White Fat vs Brown Fat (How To Increase Brown Fat)

White Fat vs Brown Fat (How To Increase Brown Fat)

In this video we’re going to talk about
the difference between white fat and
brown fat and then I’m going to give you
my opinion of why it’s really important
to try to increase the amount of brown
fat in your body primarily because a
brown fat is metabolic meaning that it
can create energy you can create heat
and it can help you burn calories and
increase your metabolism
hello everyone my name is Mike Cola and
I’ve been a fitness trainer and gym
owner for over 25 years and this is your
first time here and you really want to
improve your fitness health nutrition
along with me hit that subscribe button
I put out just like this every single
week okay let’s get right to okay what’s
the difference between brown fat white
fat and we’re even gonna discuss towards the
end of the video
beige fat okay so let’s get into brown
fat first great what is brown fat brown
fat first of all is brown in color
primarily because it very rich has a lot
of mitochondria in it so mitochondria is
like the engine of the cell that’s what
can create heat that’s what couldn’t
burn energy that’s why brown fat is
Metabolic it doesn’t just sit there
like white fat I’ve had subcutaneous fat
does it’s actually a good thing to
increase the amount of brown fat in your
body because you can potentially burn
the bad fat and you can just burn
calories in general so it’s something
that you want to do for example like fit
healthy people generally have a greater
percentage of brown fat as opposed you
know as opposed to people who are
sedentary you know but wait so that’s an
indicator right there that it’s good
they increase the amount of brown fat on
your body now years ago doctors and
scientists felt that only babies and
like young children had brown
fat and as they grew up you know
pretty much by six seven years old
almost all the brown fat one way but a
lot of recent research in the last 10
years I showed that no you do maintain
brown fat primarily between your
shoulder blades and your back and maybe
under your arms but you can do specific
things to increase the amount of brown
fat in your body which is really a great
thing when I talk about that a little
bit later in the video but let’s
talk about white fat first okay what is
white fat white that is that like subcutaneous
fat that you’re probably
so familiar with you notice that fat
around your midsection
you know is that fat in your triceps on
the back of your arm your hips and your
thighs that’s the type of fat you want
to get rid of that common subcutaneous
fat and there’s also visceral fat you know
visceral fat is that fat that
cushion the organs that’s deep you know
within the body now it’s not well you
know this white fat after it does serve
a purpose it’s this your biggest energy
reserve right you know just store energy
to store calories and in this white fat
my plus white fat also gives off Lipton
leptin is the appetite a likely
suppressant
hormone you know when you eat and you
increase your fat cells it gives off
Leptin which makes you feel satisfied
some people have issues with that for
example if you overeating you over way
you might be lifting resistant meaning
that you’re not responding to the Leptin
that means you eat you don’t feel
satisfied and you keep eating so that’s
something you do want to correct right
ok now let’s talk about how you can
increase the amount of brown fat on your
body okay one way research has shown
that just exercising in general
exercising creates an environment
creates a response that could
potentially increase the amount of brown
fat in your body so besides burning
calories and getting fit and getting
healthy another great argument to
exercise right you know do resistance
training can increase the amount of
brown fat on your body so double fold
you burn calories from exercising you
get fit and healthy plus you can
increase your metabolism not only by
increasing your muscle mass by
increasing the amount of brown fat on
your body they can another thing that’s
kind of really popular in training now
is cold therapy now you may be hearing
these celebrities and these athletes are
taking these ice-cold showers or they’re
going into ice tub say one of the
primary reasons why they’re doing this
is to increase the amount of brown fat
in your body just think when you give
your body a stimulus a response so if
you’re actually an ice cold you know ice
cold tub of water and you start
shivering the body adapts and it’s gonna
increase the amount of brown fat on your
body okay but now you just get
unfortunately the research has shown you
just can’t casually like just you know
at the end of a hot shower just kind of
sprint your self with cold water you
really got a hint he’ll we you know
being this cold water for a reasonable
amount of time to the point where you’re
homeless shivering they truly increase
the amount of brown fat in your body
okay now there’s also another type of
fat called beige fat okay now there’s a
PhD that I follow he puts out some great
time to content his name is Ben Beckman
and he’s done a lot of research when it
comes to like me know low carb eating and
ketosis a lot about this brown fat and
once he’s concluded from some of his
research is that if you keep your
insulin levels low and potentially if
you go if you follow like maybe a
ketogenic diet or more importantly if
you pretty much get into ketosis see
ketosis creates an environment that can
potentially increase the amount of beige or brown
fat on your body for example it can take
the white fat which is pretty much just
sitting there in your body it’s not very
metabolically burning too many calories
and actually increase the amount of
mitochondria in the white fat and
actually turning it into beige fat so
it’s not truly 100% brown fat but it’s
still much more metabolic it still could
produce energy it can produce heat much
more than typical typical white fat he’s
fine that when your instant levels are
low and when you’re in a state of
ketosis this potentially can happen
which is really an important thing and
I’m gonna link up some videos I did you
know I’m a big believer and you know a
little carbohydrate eating I follow a
time restricted eating and I wake up
every morning in ketosis you know check
out some of the videos I’m gonna link up
I think you’ll really enjoy them but
these are all you know he’s all great
but let’s review this whole thing now
okay first of all you want to increase
the amount of brown fat on your body
primarily because it metabolic
it’s gonna help you burn calories so you
can increase your metabolism and help
you burn that unwanted subcutaneous
white fat now how do you do it you do it
through exercise you do it through cold
therapy you know there’s other
researchers and it can be maybe even
getting adequate sleep pretty much by
leading a healthy lifestyle okay well I
hope you enjoyed this video if you did
enjoyed this video make sure to give me
a thumbs up and remember if you really
want to improve your fitness health
nutrition along with me hit that
subscribe button and also I’d be really
interested know I’m have you ever
experimented with any of these you know
ice cold showers or you do to any of
those ice-cold like cold therapy there’s
ice tub baths are you trying to increase
the amount of brown fat in your body I’d
be very interested and for everyone
watching the video would be too okay
take care everyone and have a wonderful
day
take care
