What I Drink In A Day for Energy, Focus & Productivity!

(bright music)
– Hey munchies, I am so
excited about this episode.
Lately I’ve gotten super into my beverages
and wanted to share some
fun and easy recipes
that can help with your
productivity throughout the day.
The secret, mushrooms.
Say what?
I have partnered with Four Sigmatic
on this episode and I feel so lucky
because they’re truly an amazing company.
They believe in the real
magic of functional mushrooms
like reishi, chaga,
cordyceps, and lion’s mane
to help live healthier
and more enhanced lives.
All of their products are
organic, vegan and gluten-free
and so are all of the
recipes you’re about to see.
You can also get 15% off using the link
in the description box.
Mushroom coffee has definitely
become a thing recently
and it’s pretty much thanks to them.
So let’s get the day started
with my mushroom coffee
and see what it’s all about.
I use Four Sigmatic’s Lion’s Mane Elixir.
All of their products
are instant, as well,
meaning all you have
to do is mix with water
or whatever beverage you prefer.
For me, in the morning, that’s coffee.
I also like to add a
bit of non-dairy creamer
but sometimes I make it a
bulletproof-style coffee
blending with coconut or MCT oil.
The little packets make
it easy and convenient
to take and add anywhere you go.
But what is the point of
adding the mushrooms you ask?
Lion’s mane is a medicinal mushroom
with a ton of health benefits
but the most prominent
is that it helps with
concentration and focus,
memory and the nervous system.
So it’s a great one to start your day off
on a productive note.
And just so you know you
don’t taste the mushrooms
in this or any of their products.
Four Sigmatic has done
a really amazing job
using natural ingredients
like the mint and rose hip
in this Lion’s Mane
Elixir and there’s a hint
of sweetness, but very little.
There’s no sugar and it’s very smooth.
All of their products are
a bit earthy and herbal
but I definitely would say this coffee
does not taste like mushrooms and you can
really use anything to
mix into, tea, hot water,
nut milk, a smoothie, whatever works.
In fact my next drink of the
day is a pre-workout shake.
And to help I’m adding Four
Sigmatic’s Cordyceps Elixir.
So cordyceps is another type of fungi
and it’s generally used
for athletic performance
because not only does it
give you an energy boost
but it can actually improve your VO2 max
and ATP production.
It’s also an adaptogen so
it supports the adrenals
and can help you if you
have respiratory issues.
But a lot of people just
take it for energy benefits.
I like to mix it into my shake.
You can totally use your own
recipe if you have a shake
that you love but remember it can also
just be mixed with water.
I add spinach, frozen mango,
a scoop of plant-based protein powder,
a packet of Four Sigmatic’s
Cordyceps Elixir,
and almond milk.
(bright music)
The Cordyceps packet has
a slight berry flavor
but I honestly don’t notice it as much
when it’s mixed into a
smoothie which is fine
because I really just want
the benefits it offers.
I do actually notice a
difference in my energy
when I work out after having this.
Some people like to use it to
help with an afternoon slump
or in their morning coffee.
However you mix it you’re
getting the cordyceps benefits
and it’s a great option
for those trying to consume
less coffee because it
will give you the energy
or pick-me-up you’re looking
for without the caffeine.
In the afternoon I’m making chaga chai.
Chaga mushrooms are known
as the king of mushrooms
and they actually have
the most antioxidants
of anything in the world
when compared gram for gram.
They’re extremely
anti-viral, anti-inflammatory
and contain melanin which helps strengthen
your nails and hair.
It also supports against
pathogens and I haven’t been
taking this one as long
regularly but people
who have taken it regularly
say that they literally
never get sick because it
gives such an immunity boost
and I haven’t gotten
sick yet since using it.
I simply stir it into
my favorite chai tea.
And I grew up drinking
chai with milk so I add
a splash of non-dairy cream
or almond milk to mine
but you can make yours however you like.
The chaga has a rich and earthy flavor
and actually almost tastes like coffee
but it’s also decaf so
it can be a great choice
for anyone looking for
that taste and a bit
of energy without the caffeine.
If you’re tired of
drinking beverages all day
and you still want these
benefits you can easily
add these elixirs to snacks and recipes
like these chocolate chai energy bites.
I start with almond butter and maple syrup
and microwave so it’s easier to combine.
(bright music)
Then I add in coconut flour, a few packets
of Four Sigmatic’s Chaga
Elixir and my chai spices
like cinnamon, cardamom, ground ginger,
allspice, ground cloves and ground nutmeg.
Feel free to add in salt
if your almond butter is not salted.
Scoop the mixture into balls
and refrigerate to firm up and store.
Honestly I planned for these
to be chai flavored bites
but they almost end up
tasting like gingerbread.
Not even kidding, they are so good.
Okay, we’ve come to the end of the day
which means I don’t want
anything that’s going
to energize me too much.
In fact, I want something
to calm me down like reishi.
I am currently loving Four Sigmatic’s
Mushroom Hot Cacao Mix.
It has been my dessert substitute lately
and there’s only 25 calories and two grams
of sugar per packet.
I blend it with warm
almond milk and it is sweet
and cinnamony and just makes me feel
so comfortable and relaxed.
And the holidays are
coming up so lately I may
have been adding some whipped
or coconut whipped cream on top,
optional but not a mistake.
Reishi is another
adaptogen and is probably
the medicinal mushroom that
most people are familiar with.
It’s very rounding and can help promote
a deeper sleep and reduce stress.
It’s also great for the liver.
Four Sigmatic does have a
reishi elixir that you can
mix if you aren’t about
hot cocoa but it’s almost
the holiday so, you know
I don’t know about you
but more chocolate is sneaking
into my diet everyday.
And that is my what I
drink in a day video.
Of course, I don’t actually drink all
of these every single day.
I sort of listen to my body
and give it what it needs
but these have been some of my go-tos
the past few months.
You can get 15% off using
the link in the description
box and I definitely recommend
perusing the website.
It’s beautifully designed.
What I really love is that
you can filter looking
through the products by
type, caffeine or not,
and the benefits, as well.
So if you just want to look
at options that can provide
energy or help with productivity
you can select those.
Or if you want something
more chill it makes it easy
to search for your needs.
And I an not gonna lie,
I am a review junkie.
I love to read reviews
before purchasing anything
and their site makes it really easy to see
what verified buyers have
actually thought of the products.
And I gotta say it’s pretty
amazing how many other people
are finding that these mushrooms help
with their healthy
lifestyles, very inspiring.
Thanks to Four Sigmatic for
making this episode possible.
I hope you can give their products a try.
Thanks so much for
being here and watching.
I will see you on Thursday
with a brand new eposide
and remember it’s all a
matter of mind over munch.
