What are some things to be aware of with the keto diet?

The keto diet has become very popular, because
people who are considering diets that want
to lose weight look around and people who
have tried it seem to lose a lot of weight
quickly, and for this reason, it’s very appealing.
But it cuts out most carbs of a person’s diet
and it’s really hard to sustain for a long
period of time, so people who do it tend to
gain the weight back when they go back to
real life, because it’s pretty hard to cut
out carbs for the rest of a person’s life.
It’s best to choose a diet that is sustainable
for a lifetime, and instead of actually calling
it a diet, it’s best to think of it as making
lifestyle changes and choices that will help
you to be optimally healthy for the rest of
your life. Sustainable food choices are those
that have whole grains, fruits, vegetables,
lean protein, low-fat dairy, and healthy fats,
and sweets sparingly.
It all comes down to portion control, eating
food that is healthy for you, and a good diet
will also include an exercise regimen. The
American Heart Association recommends that
we get 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise
on most days of the week. And research also
shows that when it comes to weight-loss, it
is most effective to intermingle strength
training in with cardiovascular exercise,
because when you have more muscle mass, it
increases the amount of calories your body
needs to maintain that during the day, and
so your basal metabolic rate increases, meaning
you need more calories at rest to maintain
your body’s functions. When you’re eating
healthy food and you’re exercising, you can
feel confident in your overall health, and
it’s not always about the number on the scale.
It is about overall health, because sometimes
when a person starts to eat well and they’re
exercising, the number on the scale may not
change that much, but their body composition
does, and that’s what’s important, because
the amount of fat may go down, but the amount
of muscle goes up, and so the number on the
scale may not change much, but your health
is changing.
So again, when it comes to the keto diet,
it’s hard to sustain for a long period of
time. It’s hard for a person to keep the weight
off once they’ve resumed normal eating habits.
And we don’t know much about the longterm
effects that may be associated with eating
a lot of unhealthy fats while on the diet.
Some people are actually put on the keto diet
by a doctor, because it has been proven to
help with seizures and other health issues.
But I do suggest talking with your doctor
if you’re considering it, and based on their
knowledge of your circumstances and history,
they’ll determine if this diet is good for
you or if there’s another one that would be
better. If you have more questions in the
