It’s that time of year when some of us may be looking to shed a few quick pounds before heading off on our vacations. This summer — the keto diet is creating a lot of buzz. 27 First News Reporter Brittany Bissell talked with a local dietitian to find out more about the keto diet — she joins us live in studio with what she found out. Brittany? The keto diet has been around for quite some time — but it seems to be the diet that everyone is interested in this summer.. I spoke with a local dietitian who told me how it works. It’s a very restrictive diet — low on carbohydrates with very little fruit and vegetables. It consists of high fat foods like bacon– and foods high in protein like chicken and steak. I’m told that’s what makes it so appealing to people. Your body is basically starved for glucose, and starts breaking fat down for energy.
