Rebel Creamery – Vanilla | LCHF Ice Cream | Made FOR keto!

Guys, I’m very excited about this week’s
review. It is for Rebel Creamery’s
Vanilla flavor — the first of five flavors
that I’m gonna be checking out over the
next few weeks. Couldn’t be more excited
to check this out. I’m gonna start right
after this. Hey, guys! Welcome to A.D. Keto. My name is Aaron. This is the channel
where you can watch a weird dad work his way through the ketogenic diet. I do some
keto eating vlogs, I do some keto
product reviews, and I do some keto giveaways.
If this is your first time here, please

sure you’re on Notification Squad by
clicking the bell. Okay, guys.
Rebel Creamery. I am so excited to try
this stuff. They are the latest player in
the low carb / high fat-specific ice cream
game, and from everything I hear, they’re
delicious. Now before I get into
reviewing this, I want to just talk a
little bit about Rebel, because it’s a
pretty cool story. Rebel Creamery is a
company based out of Midway, Utah. I don’t know what it is about Utah, but there’s a lot
of awesome keto ice cream coming out of Utah. My Pals Killer Whey are there. Rebel
Creamery is there. Rebel Creamery was
founded by Austin Archibald, and he
started keto about the same time I did —
January 2017. And that makes me feel like a
chump! I don’t have MY own ice cream
company. This dude has made stuff happen.
He and his wife Courtney and their four
kids live in Utah. So Austin had always
messed around with making his own ice
cream. When he started keto, he was like,
“I’m either gonna have to give this up
entirely or make drastic changes to it,
so that it’ll work for keto.” And so he
enlisted the services of a food
scientist, and they figured out sort of a
combination of ingredients that would
work — that would eliminate the sugar, but
still have a sweet flavor, with the
creamy goodness that… you know, everyone expects with with ice cream. So he
decided to launch a Kickstarter campaign
in November of 2017, and in a little less
than a month, it was funded. It raised
over $80,000. Over 1400 people backed
the project. It’s one of the fastest-ever
Kickstarters based around small batch
food products. So a lot of people
supported them.
And they’re now starting to ship product
to people. It’s very exciting. And their
goal — there… they have a two-pronged goal. They want to… number one: bring premium,
low carb, high fat, no sugar added ice
cream to stores. And they also want to
use it as a gateway to potentially
convert more people to keto. So that’s
fantastic. It’s all about convincing store managers
to carry this stuff in their stores. One
store in particular in California was
very flexible early on, and was able to
get them into stores very early. So they
have a physical presence in California,
but everything else they’re shipping out
in cooler boxes, with dry ice in
them. Unfortunately, they’re only shipping
to the United States at his time as
well, because of regulations due to dairy
in Canada and the UK, etc. It’s U.S. only.
There are plans to do some dairy-free
options down the road, but for now, it’s
just these initial flavors, and shipping
to the U.S. only. So it’s incredibly
exciting that this is kind of the way
things are going. I hope to see more and
more high-fat / low-carb ice creams follow
this trend. It’s just super-exciting. So
that’s their company in a nutshell. I am
going to start with Vanilla. I put out a
poll on YouTube last week, and I said, “Hey,
I got my shipment of Rebel Creamery Ice
Cream in! Which flavor would you guys
like to see me tackle first?” And here are
the results. And I am going to pretty
much do the exact OPPOSITE of this. 😀 I
know that you guys want these… the fancy
flavor first, but I really need to start
with Vanilla, because I feel like if a
company can get vanilla right, there’s a
very good chance that they’ll get
everything else right. I also want to
start with the fewest carbs and work my
way up to the flavors that have the most
carbs. So I appreciate your input on that
poll, but I have chosen to ignore it. I still
love you, but I’m sorry. So this is
Vanilla. If you guys have been here
before, you know that I break my ice
cream reviews down into four parts. I
talk about the texture. That’s the most
important thing to me. This I took out of
my freezer an hour ago, and then 40
minutes in… I I left it on the counter,
and I came back 40 minutes later. I was
like, “Ooh, that’s pretty soft. I better put
that back in the freezer for ten minutes.”
So it’s been about 40 minutes out of the
freezer, ten minutes back in, and then ten
minutes since then. So roughly 40 minutes (#math) post-freezer. Then I talk about the
taste. I’m very hopeful that this Vanilla
is going to be delightful. Then I talk
about the carb situation. This is where
Rebel Creamery
is heads and shoulders above just about
everything else. And the last part of the
review is the ingredients. Gonna run
through the ingredients and tell you
what’s in it. So without further ado,
let’s check it out. Oh boy. It is very…
super-smooth looking. Oh my god. Wow.
perhaps I left it out a touch too long.
But look at that.
Wwwwwwwwhat?
Oh my goodness. Okay, I need to have a
moment here. Just a minute. Just a minute.
That’s amazing.
This…
The texture is great. The texture… I left
that… I left this out a little too long. I
would recommend half an hour, tops. This
was out a touch too long. It’s a little
bit… it’s a little bit gooey, which is not
a huge problem. It’s mostly gooey on the
top and on the sides, but fewer than 45
minutes, probably. Fantastic. The taste is
very pleasant. It’s similar to Killer Whey
in that it tastes like natural vanilla.
Not quite as strong of a flavor of
vanilla as was in Killer Whey’s Vanilla.
I felt like Killer Whey tasted a lot
like vanilla extract, like super, super…
just straight-up real vanilla. This is
the same flavor, just a little less
intense. Still very pleasurable. The carbs.
This number. This number right here is
for the entire pint. This entire pint is
5 grams of net carbs. Total carbs: 10
grams, dietary fiber: 2g, sugar alcohol: 7g, so that is like… 1 point something
grams of net carbs per serving?
Remarkable. 14 grams of fat, eight of
those are from saturated fat, two grams
of protein. Less protein than fat.
Fantastic. Guys, I think I’m done with Halo
Top and the like. Like…low-fat ice creams
are silly. We’ve got companies now that
are catering to keto people — like Rebel,
like Killer Whey. This is the way to go.
Let me read you the ingredients. There
are very few ingredients. I love this.
Ingredients: cream, water, erythritol,
chicory root fiber, egg yolks, milk
protein isolate, vegetable glycerin,
vanilla extract,
Peruvian carob gum, guar gum, monk fruit.
The end. Fantastic. Sweetened with erythritol and
monk fruit. Really amazing stuff. If this is
the baseline? If this is like… you know,
at-rest condition, I think I’m in for a
treat with these other flavors. Yes, I
took the top back off, Autumn!! I’m digging in one more time! Oh boy.
Man. Okay, so really — kind of the highest
marks I can give it. It’s spectacular. And
made for keto. That’s the thing. Companies like these
guys are pushing things in the direction
that they need to go, and that’s one of
the big things with Rebel, as well.
Austin has said that one of his goals is
to promote keto, and they’re doing it right
on the packaging. I actually never read
that. Let me just take a look, here. It
says, “Many have discovered that eating
foods high in healthy fats and low in
carbs and sugar trains your body to burn
fat instead of sugar as an energy source. Common benefits people may experience on
a low-carb high-fat diet are weight loss,
increased energy, suppressed appetite, and
mental clarity. That’s keto, baby.
So guys, incredible. I’m absolutely
smitten with this stuff. Holy cow.
Here’s the thing. I think as a community,
as keto people, we should promote this as much as possible. There is a form on
Rebel’s website. It’s basically a form
that can you can print and fill out, bring to the
customer service desk of your local
supermarket, and say, “Hey — I want this in
your stores. Can you hook a brother or
sister up?” I did that today. I mean, they
were dealing with a couple of very
disgruntled shoppers before they got to
me, but when I got to the customer
service desk with my little form, I said,
“I’d just like to submit this product
request form, please.” They took it, and
said, “Have a nice day.” And the cool thing
is that if you do that, you can you go back
to Rebel’s website, and you fill out this
survey, asking you about where you
brought the form. You fill it all in, and if
that store ultimately ends up carrying
Rebel, Rebel we’ll send you two coupons
for free pints, which is killer!
So guys, that’s my review of Rebel. if you
have ordered some, and you’ve had it, let me
know what you think of Vanilla. It’s a
very good sign that the vanilla is as
good as it is. I’ve got high hopes for the
rest of the flavors, which would be… will
be coming in the following weeks. So if
you’ve had it, let me know what you think
down in the comments. I’d love to hear
from you. I hope you have a fantastic day,
guys, and I will see you next time.
