November 2, 2019 0 By William Morgan

Hello and welcome to “VideoScript”, presented by Drugs.com.
Today in the final of three presentations,
we continue reviewing prednisone,
a commonly used medication in the class
of drugs known as corticosteroids
It is important to follow dosing
instructions carefully when taking prednisone
Once a day doses should be taken in
the morning with breakfast
If multiple doses are taken throughout the day,
or if every other day doses are taken
follow the prescriber’s directions exactly
Patients should not abruptly stop taking prednisone
Prednisone is usually tapered slowly
over a period of several days to help prevent
side effects
There are many side effects reported with prednisone,
but most patients tolerate it very well
Common side effects with prednisone may include:
headache
dizziness
trouble sleeping
mood changes
and slow healing of cuts or bruises
More serious side effects may include:
signs of an infection
vision problems
severe mood changes
and growth delay in children using higher doses
