Pass the Food Test

Pass the Food Test

July 18, 2019 7 By William Morgan

DR. COLBERT: We all are
faced with a food test every
day throughout the day. Now,
Adam and Eve failed the first
key food test, back thousands
of years ago, and that was
a healthy looking piece
of fruit from a tree. And
they chose it, and by
choosing the wrong food,
they infected the entire
human race with sin.
(Singing) I know my God
has made the way for
me. I know my God has
made the way for me.
ANNOUNCER: Today on the
Believer’s Voice of Victory,
Kenneth Copeland and Dr.
Don Colbert bring helpful
advice on how to make
quality decisions to avoid
unhealthy foods. Giving
your body what it needs
will produce a healthy
lifestyle. Now here’s Kenneth.
KENNETH: Hello, everybody.
This is the Believer’s Voice
of Victory broadcast. Father,
we thank You today. We are
so excited in Your presence
and what You’re doing for
us and through us and
with us. Oh, my. Oh, we
give You praise, and we
honor You, and we worship
You. Lord Jesus, we give
You all the glory and the praise
for all of these wonderful
things that we’re learning. And
so many people, so many people
are learning that they do not
have to be sad and hopeless
when it comes to getting out of
an obese lifestyle, that you
can do it with joy. Hallelujah.
AUDIENCE: Amen. KENNETH: You
don’t have to be hungry anymore.
Ha-ha-ha. Hallelujah! You can be
healthy, glory to God, and not
be hungry! Oh, glory to God.
(Audience Agrees) We’re so
joyous about this, Jesus. It’s
Your Body, Lord Jesus, that’s
being brought to a place of
healing, and we thank You for it
in Jesus’ name. Amen.
DR. COLBERT: Amen.
(Audience “Amens”) KENNETH: Join
me again today in welcoming
Dr. Don Colbert to this studio.
(Applause) Hallelujah. I’ll tell
you, I’m–I’m so thrilled I–and
the–the reason this thrills me
so–and oh, the joy of the Lord
came on me on yesterday’s
broadcast. And one of the
reasons is because I’ve been
there, man. DR. COLBERT: Amen.
KENNETH: I’ve been there all the
way from being a hundred pounds
overweight and all the–the
years and all of the things that
were messed up in my physical
body. And my weight’s stable.
DR. COLBERT: Amen. Praise God.
KENNETH: And– DR. COLBERT:
And no pain? KENNETH: No pain.
DR. COLBERT: Amen. KENNETH: I
spent a lot of years in pain. It
just went on anyway. “Well,
I thought you believed in
healing, Brother Copeland.”
I do. That’s the reason I’m
healed, you understand?
DR. COLBERT: Ha-ha-ha.
KENNETH: But a big–I’m
talking about huge–reason
that people are in pain and
things happen, is because
of simple disobedience
to the Word of God.
DR. COLBERT: Absolutely.
KENNETH: I know that’s
what got me in trouble– DR.
COLBERT: Yes. KENNETH: The
whole 50 years I’ve been in the
ministry is being disobedient to
the Word. DR. COLBERT: That’s
right. KENNETH: And that’s the
same thing with anybody else.
DR. COLBERT: Absolutely.
KENNETH: And when you
finally deal with your own
sorry self–ha-ha-ha–get in
there and judge yourself like
the Scripture says, then you
don’t be judged with the world.
AUDIENCE: That’s right. Amen.
KENNETH: And I just–I just kept
seeking God and kept confessing
the Word of God and staying with
it, staying with it, staying–I
would not let my weight get
ahead of me. I would not do it.
But it was a constant. It’s like
keeping a caged animal locked
up all the time. Ah, I’m free.
Ha-ha-ha. I’m free. DR.
COLBERT: Oh, you know what’s
so important, too, and so many
people think, “Do I have to live
low-carb the rest of my life?”
KENNETH: No, sir. DR. COLBERT:
Well, let me explain something
to you, once you get your weight
down, you add back the healthy
carbs. The–some sweet potatoes,
some hummus, some fruits and
things such as this. So, yes,
you can add back healthy carbs.
But I heard a saying years ago,
“Your greatest wealth is your
health.” Now, again, I have seen
so many patients over the years
who have sacrificed their health
for wealth. And then, all of a
sudden, they’re struck with a
heart attack, congestive heart
failure, cancer, Alzheimer’s
disease. And you know what they
tell me every time? They say,
“Dr. Colbert, I would give
anything, all of my wealth, to
restore my health.” And what
I’ve told so many patients over
the years, “We have to pass the
food test.” KENNETH: Yes, sir.
DR. COLBERT: There’s a food
test. We all are faced with a
food test every day throughout
the day. Now, Adam and Eve
failed the first key food test
back thousands of years ago, and
that was a healthy looking piece
of fruit from a tree. And they
chose it. And by choosing the
wrong food, they infected the
entire human race– KENNETH:
Yes, sir. DR. COLBERT: –with
sin. We became sin infected.
Now, Jesus came back, 2,000
years ago. And the first key
test He was given was the food
test. KENNETH: Yes, sir. DR.
COLBERT: Now, this was in
Matthew 4. You read it.
KENNETH: He’s the second and
last Adam. DR. COLBERT: Amen.
KENNETH: He had to pass that
test. DR. COLBERT: Absolutely.
So what happened? Jesus had
been fasting. Now, just
imagine fasting for 40 days
and 40 nights. And then
what happens? Satan comes.
And he says, “If you be the
son of man, turn these stones
into bread.” Now, the bread
back then wasn’t like the bread
today. It was actually
healthy for you, full of
fiber, full of nutrition. But
what did Jesus say after
fasting? Because He had to pass
the food test. He had to crucify
His flesh, too. He said, “No.”
He answered with the Scripture.
That’s where the Word of God
comes in. KENNETH: Oh, man.
DR. COLBERT: That’s where the
Word of God, “Faith comes by
hearing, and hearing by the Word
of God.” We have to know the
Word. We fight the enemy with
the Word. “Man shall not live by
bread alone, but by every word
that proceeds from the mouth of
God.” That’s why we have to put
the Word in our mind, in our
mouth, in our heart– KENNETH:
Hallelujah. DR. COLBERT: –to
store up bullets against the
devil, because he will come at
us at our weakest moment. And
so, so many people are faced
with the food test every day.
Christians, they’re failing it
every day, unknowingly
inviting disease into their
body, inviting obesity into
their body, inviting dementia
into their body, inviting Type
II diabetes, heart disease,
autoimmune disease. They’re
inviting it in. And again, it
goes back to the scripture in
Galatians–Galatians 6:7-8. It
says, “Brethren, be not
deceived; God is not mocked:
whatsoever seed you sow, that
will you also reap.” KENNETH:
That’s it. DR. COLBERT: And
we’re simply–we’re reaping
disease by choosing to eat all
these foods. Now, the key foods,
I told you what they are.
They’re carbs, sugars, and
starches. It’s real simple. If
you cannot resist a doughnut,
a candy bar, a chocolate chip
cookie, an Oreo, ice cream, then
how are you going to resist
the devil? You’ve got to start
working your faith muscles with
simple things by passing the
food test. (Audience “Amens”)
KENNETH: Let me show you
something. Let me show
you something. Say that’s
a doughnut, and that things
been–boy, you’ve been battling
that. You say, “I’m never going
to eat another one,” and it’s
like, “I’m never going to smoke
another cigarette.” DR. COLBERT:
Ha-ha-ha. KENNETH: And I–you
know, I was a–almost chain
smoker when I got saved. And I
enjoyed smoking, man. I–you
know. DR. COLBERT: Mm-hmm.
KENNETH: But–and then I got–I
got born again, and I thought,
“Well, man, I hate this. I’m not
buying this anymore.” Then I’d
throw them out, and then–and
then I’d turn around and go
back– DR. COLBERT: Mm-hmm.
KENNETH: –in the weeds and hunt
for cigarettes. DR. COLBERT:
(Laughs) KENNETH: Get down there
and think, “This is the dumbest
thing that ever happened to me
in my life, man.” But the first
meeting I ever got in where the
Word of God was being taught, it
separated me from that. I never
quit smoking. The Word separated
me from it. You take that
doughnut or a slice of bread, or
whatever the thing that is
really the toughest on you, and
you prepare yourself. Let me
go–this is the reason Proverbs
23 is so important. Put this
scripture–write it out on a
card where you’ve–you’ve got it
ready there. You look at it
every day. “Faith cometh by
hearing, hearing by the Word of
God.” Just obey these first
three verses. “When you sit to
eat with a ruler, consider
diligently what is set before
you: put a knife–” This verse
is the knife if I’ll obey this.
“Put a knife to your throat, if
you be given to doughnuts.” “Be
not desirous of his doughnuts:
they are deceitful food.” “Yes,
sir. I obey that. I obey that,
Father. And in the name of Jesus
Christ of Nazareth, doughnut,
you and all your kinfolks–“
(Laughter) “–I have–you are
deceitful meat.” DR. COLBERT:
Amen. KENNETH: “You’re–you’re
part of a sickness and disease
in my body. In the name of the
Lord Jesus Christ, I have no
need of you again hereafter
forever.” DR. COLBERT: Amen.
(Audience “Amens”) KENNETH: Take
communion. Amen. And be ready.
Be ready. Any time that starts
coming up, “No, no, no, no, no.
No, no. No, no. I have no need
of you, doughnut. I’m not–“
Hey, this is like alcohol to a
drunkard. “I don’t–I don’t need
to be doing this. That thing
is of no assistance to me
whatsoever forever. I don’t need
a doughnut from now till Jesus
comes.” AUDIENCE: Amen. DR.
COLBERT: Amen. Also, Brother
Kenneth, you speak the Word.
You say, “No. My body is not my
own.” KENNETH: Yes.
That’s–yeah. DR. COLBERT: It
was bought by the blood of
Jesus. KENNETH: Yes, sir. Yes,
sir. DR. COLBERT: And I’m going
to give my body what it needs
and not what it craves. And when
you do that, you’re speaking
God’s Word, and you’re breaking
that bondage that has enslaved
you. KENNETH: Many of you–many
of you will never want it again.
DR. COLBERT: Amen. (Audience
“Amens”) KENNETH: Gone forever.
DR. COLBERT: It breaks it. The
Word breaks it. KENNETH: Gone
forever. Now, some–sometimes
you may have to do it several
times. But don’t–keep–keep
the Word. “Faith cometh, faith
cometh, faith cometh.” Your
faith level’s rising, and, boy,
that doughnut’s taking a
whipping. DR. COLBERT: Amen.
AUDIENCE: Yes. KENNETH: And it
won’t be long, you know, you
don’t even think about it again.
DR. COLBERT: And you speak the
Word to that doughnut, and you
say– KENNETH: Yes, sir.
DR. COLBERT: –“I beseech you,
brother, and by the mercies of
God, I present my body a living
sacrifice–” KENNETH: So good.
DR. COLBERT: “–holy and
acceptable to God. I will not
give my body what it craves, but
what it needs.” Because, again
Church, if we can’t resist
sugars, carbs, and starches,
we’re going to fail the food
test. And by doing so, you
invite cancer into your body,
heart disease, dementia, Type II
diabetes, and all the major
diseases by choosing the wrong
food. KENNETH: Let me ask you
something. Is the eating of that
kind of food a sin? Yes, it is.
DR. COLBERT: It is. When they
know to do– KENNETH: When
you know, and you’ve found
out. DR. COLBERT: Right.
KENNETH: But the knowledge of it
is what will help you defeat
it. DR. COLBERT: Amen.
KENNETH: Because you
get destroyed for lack
of knowledge. But once you
know, you’re armed. You’re
armed before God. Whatever
does not proceed from faith
is sin, and you can’t eat that
thing by faith. Faith will not
tolerate that. But, glory to
God, whoa-ho-ho. Say, “Thank
You, Jesus.” Say it. (Audience
Repeats) “Thank You, Jesus. Your
and my body are on the way to
victory. Goodbye, fat! Hello,
victory! I’m free in Jesus’
name.” Now, see, and you’re
praising God. That’s the way you
do it. DR. COLBERT: Amen.
KENNETH: And you say, “Goodbye,
doughnut.” Whoa. DR. COLBERT:
Ha-ha-ha. KENNETH: “I’m done
with you forever. Goodbye, old
white bread. Who needs you
anyway?” Glory to God. And
just– DR. COLBERT: Amen.
KENNETH: –rejoice. DR. COLBERT:
Rejoice, praise. KENNETH:
Rejoice. DR. COLBERT: Amen.
KENNETH: “I’m free. I’m a free
man.” DR. COLBERT: And enter
into gratitude. Remember, one
of the greatest expressions of
faith is thanking Him,
gratitude. And my little
four-year-old grand-baby, Timmy,
we were out to dinner the other
night, and he says, “Thank you,
Papa, for this dinner.” And, oh,
my goodness, how it just so
appreciated, and I was so happy.
And it gave me a glimpse of how
the Lord looks at us when we
offer gratitude. KENNETH: You
know what? I don’t think–I know
what’s going on inside here.
“What else you want, boy?”
(Laughter) DR. COLBERT: That’s
exactly right. “Can I get you
something else?” KENNETH: That’s
the way God is. DR. COLBERT:
Absolutely. KENNETH: That’s
the way God is. “What else you
want? What else you want? I give
you all things richly to enjoy.”
DR. COLBERT: Amen. Amen, amen.
Praise God. KENNETH: Oh, thank
You, Jesus. DR. COLBERT: Now,
let me tell you something. So
many people need their hope
rekindled. Many Christians have
lost their hope. And without
hope, it’s impossible to have
faith. KENNETH: That’s true. DR.
COLBERT: And so what hope comes
from is our testimony,
testimonies of victory,
also partnership. Partner
with someone. Get an
accountabilibuddy. And if you
can’t find a buddy, join our
ketozone.com community, and we
will help you with recipes and
articles and things to help you.
KENNETH: Isn’t that wonderful?
DR. COLBERT: But testimonies
are real important. We’re going
to be putting testimonies up.
And take a picture of yourself
now before you start and then
monitor your weight, not every
day, just once a week. KENNETH:
Don’t suck your stomach in. Let
it hang out. (Laughter) DR.
COLBERT: Because this
testimony–this testimony is
going to infuse hope into the
Body of Christ. KENNETH: He told
me that back there some years
ago. He said, “Take a picture of
yourself.” I said, “You’ve got
to be kidding.” (Laughter) He
said, “No.” He said, “Put your
bathing suit on, take a picture
of yourself.” DR. COLBERT:
That’s right. KENNETH:
(Laughing) And so I went in
there, and I put that bathing
suit on. And Gloria is taking
that picture. And the Lord said,
“Relax.” (Laughter) “No, I don’t
want to do that.” DR. COLBERT:
That’s right. Praise God.
KENNETH: Hallelujah. DR.
COLBERT: One of the great
testimonies that I found is my
wife, Mary. I mean, she has
tried every way to lose weight.
She, unfortunately, put on a
little bit of weight. And she
was looking at TV one time,
because she’s doing a lot of TV
appearances, and she said, “Hey,
TV puts about 20 pounds on you.”
And she says, “My goodness, I
didn’t recognize myself. Was
that me?” But here’s my wife in
the audience, and she has helped
so many women because she makes
it so easy, so simple, women,
that you can carry a few key
things in your purse, eat some
simple meals. It doesn’t take
hardly any preparation. So,
Mary, just tell them what you
did to lose this weight. MARY
COLBERT: Well, you know, I’ve–I
want to encourage those that are
watching right now. You’re not
watching this show by accident.
If you are struggling with
weight, this not an accident.
This is a God-ordained moment.
KENNETH: Yes, it is. DR.
COLBERT: Mm-hmm. MARY: I do
believe that to everything, the
Word of God says, there is a
season. And that means literally
everything. But if you’re
watching this program, God’s
season for you is health. He
wants to bring you into the
optimum health. And in order to
do that, He really wants us at
our best weight. And, yes,
sometimes you have to have an
“aha” moment, you know. And
part of that “aha” moment is
looking at yourself in reality,
not denial, and just saying,
“Wow, is this really my best? Am
I looking my best? Am I feeling
my best?” Well, guess what? You
can change that. You really,
really can, but it does begin
here. I have to tell you, it
begins here. It’s a mindset. He
said, “Let this mind be in you
which is also in Christ Jesus.”
KENNETH: That’s right.
Philippians. MARY: And so you
have to have a shift of
mind–mindset, of saying, “I can
do this. I can do this in Jesus’
name.” So you begin the mindset
of belief that you can do it,
and you can. (Audience Agrees) I
believe that with my whole
heart. And, yes, I was watching
me on a television program.
There is a movie coming out this
year on me, and I know I’m going
to be on TV, and I’m going to be
all over the country big time
this year. And I was watching
myself on TV, and I went, “No!
That’s not me!” (Laughter) “Don,
that’s not me!” And he goes,
“Oh, yes, it is you.” (Laughter)
DR. COLBERT: Cruel reality.
MARY: It was a true reality
check. And, you know, I’m like a
lot of women. I have three sizes
of clothes in my closet. One is
the size that I really want to
be, the other’s when I kind of
get a little lazy, and then the
other one is, “Oh, my God, what
happened?” (Laughter) You know?
And I was wearing the “Oh, my
God, what happened?” So for me,
it was a reality check of,
“Mary, is this really the best
you you want to be? Really?”
Really ask yourself, “Is this
the–really the best you you
want to be?” Because I can tell
you, when you make that mind
shift, that change in your mind,
that, “No, that’s not the best
me I can be,” you believe. God
is giving you the power and the
knowledge. With this program,
you can do it. KENNETH: Yes.
(Audience Agrees) MARY: You can
do it. KENNETH: Yes, yes, yes.
MARY: And this could be the best
year of your life. DR. COLBERT:
Amen. MARY: And I just encourage
you to do it. DR. COLBERT:
Amen. KENNETH: Praise God.
DR. COLBERT: Amen. KENNETH:
Thank you, Mary. (Applause)
Oh, my goodness. We’re just
about out of time. Don’t miss
these broadcasts. And as I
said earlier, get online,
kcm.org/notes, and–and download
the notes of all of this. And by
the time you see this on the
air–by the time you see it on
BVOVN, and it will–all of the
scriptures and everything will
all have been outlined and so
forth. And you can help your own
family. You can begin to teach
off of those outlines. You can
get– DR. COLBERT: Amen.
KENNETH: –you a group together
and say, “Hey, we’re going to do
this thing. We’re going to watch
these broadcasts together.” You
can get a church group together
and use those outlines.
You’ll have everything that
Doc says plus the book.
(Audience “Amens”) Praise God.
DR. COLBERT: And a recipe
book coming, on the way,
it’s in production right now,
to help you with these
good recipes because,
also, in losing weight,
it can taste good, folks.
AUDIENCE: That’s right.
DR. COLBERT: It’s exciting
what we have. KENNETH: We’ll
be back in a little while.
(Applause) Thank You, Lord.
ANNOUNCER: We hope you enjoyed
today’s teaching from Kenneth
Copeland Ministries. And
remember Jesus is Lord.
