COLE: YOU HAVE AN EXCUSE TO SKIP DINNER AND HEAD STRAIGHT FOR DESSERT TONIGHT. IT’S NATIONAL ICE CREAM DAY. PRESIDENT RONALD REAGAN MADE IT OFFICIAL BACK IN 1984 AND IT IS OBSERVED EVERY YEAR ON THE THIRD SUNDAY OF JULY. AND IN HONOR OF NATIONAL ICE CREAM DAY, THE OREGON DAIRY AND NUTRITION COUNCIL IS LAUNCHING WHAT IT CALLS THE OREGON ICE CREAM TRAIL. SO FAR, 10 LOCATIONS ARE ON THE LIST, AND THE COUNCIL IS HOPING TO CROWD SOURCE OTHER SUGGESTIONS. AS YOU CAN IMAGINE, SALT AND STRAW IS ON THE LIST. ALSO IN PORTLAND, RUBY JEWEL, FIFTY LICKS AND CLOUD CITY ICE CREAM MADE THE CUT. I THINK I HAVE BEEN TO ALL OF THOSE EXCEPT FOR CLOUD CITY. THIS WILL BE THE DAY TO GRAB A SCOOP, TO GRAB A CONE, BUT YOU MIGHT HAVE TO EAT IT IN A HURLEY. JOSEPH: I’M SURE THOSE LINES ARE ROUND THE BLOCK.
