today you’re going to learn three easy
ways to get your daily micronutrients a
key component to any healthy diet
Elisa here head chef at warriormade.com where eating healthy and fresh
ingredients is one of our biggest
priorities so much so that in addition
to weekly follow along at home workouts
members of our warrior made tribe also
receive weekly meal plans to help them
support their health now in this video
we’ll focus on two of our main pillars
healthy eating and supplementation
you’ll learn some awesome tips about
adding fresh herbs electrolytes and
supplements into your diet to get your
daily micros in okay so when we talk
about nutrition we mean anything you put
in your body to help it thrive the types
of nutrients we are broken up into two
categories macronutrients which are
proteins fats and carbs and
micronutrients like vitamins and
minerals today let’s talk micros
micronutrients are essential for our
bodies to thrive if we’re deficient in
micros we can exhibit symptoms from
fatigue to jaundice and as it turns out
our bodies don’t produce micronutrients
on their own which is why we have to get
our vitamins and minerals from foods
drinks and supplements in another video
I showed you how to build your own herb
garden so that you have fresh herbs on
hand all the time
click the link below if you want to
learn more well as you may have guessed
herbs are a great way to add
micronutrients into your diet like
veggies herbs are loaded with various
vitamins and minerals they also contain
a certain type of micronutrient called
polyphenols which are packed with
antioxidants and are super important for
your health scientific studies show that
incorporating a good amount of
polyphenols into your diet can help with
digestive issues and weight management
and can even protect from cancer heart
disease diabetes and other health
conditions not bad huh
the three herbs I use on a weekly basis
without fail are basil rosemary and
parsley which is what I planted it in my
garden let’s take it herb by herb and
I’ll fill you in on a few nutrition tips
first basil now not only does basil
taste great in Italian dishes and fresh
salads but it also has
inflammatory and antibacterial
properties it’s packed with vitamins A K
and C and is loaded with minerals like
iron and calcium as for herb number 2
parsley
it’s another powerhouse when it comes to
micronutrients studies have shown that
it may help prevent cancer and diabetes
it’s packed with vitamins A K and C and
with minerals like iron to get all the
micros parsley packs you can put it into
your Mediterranean sautés and into a
healthy version of tabbouleh where you
replace the bulgur wheat with grated
cauliflower all right on to the last of
my favorite herbs rosemary rosemary has
been shown to help improve concentration
and digestion and is packed with
vitamins like A C and B6 and minerals
like iron and calcium to benefit from
rosemary you can make a marinade for
your meats now keep in mind veggies are
also a great way to get your daily
micronutrients we just wanted to
highlight the herbs today since we
already had them on hand after making
our garden check out the link below for
our video on how to build your herb
garden and how to cook with the herbs
you grow now we know that herbs and
veggies are great ways to get your
micros from food but did you know you
can also get a good dose of
micronutrients from drinking electrolyte
beverages electrolytes are special
minerals found in food and clean sources
of water the most common ones that our
bodies need to thrive are sodium
chloride potassium magnesium and calcium
the pretty cool thing about electrolytes
is that they conduct an electric charge
when they dissolve in water don’t worry
there isn’t a big explosion or anything
but I bet I have you wondering where you
can find your very own electric water
don’t I well here are a few tips to make
sure you’re getting what you need first
water quality matters I know you’ve
probably heard of Gatorade and vitamin
water as a good electrolyte source but
at warrior made we stay away from drinks
like this because they can be packed
with refined sugars which don’t fit our
healthy ingredients seal of approval so
here’s what we recommend instead get a
good water filter
that will remove all the chemicals like
chlorine and fluoride used during the
water treatment process yes that’s right
chemicals like chlorine which is used in
pools are in the water we drink too much
of it or fluoride are not good for our
bodies the berkey filter is one of the
best filters on the market it’s so
powerful it can filter food coloring out
of water now to make sure your water is
chock full of electrolytes try adding
Himalayan pink salt and lemon juice to
keep you hydrated throughout the day the
lemon contains micros like calcium and
potassium and the salt provides sodium
this combo helps balance your pH and
overall fluid levels in your body so
drink up all right you’re becoming a
micronutrient Pro and before we wrap up
I wanted to show you one more way to get
your daily micros since micronutrients
are not something our bodies produce on
their own supplementation is another
great way to add them to your diet
multivitamins help increase your micro
intake as they are packed for the ton of
essential vitamins and minerals the body
needs to function now as always we
recommend that before taking any
supplements or changing up your diet
that you consult your personal care
provider first we’re all different so a
supplement that works for one person may
not work for another
even if it’s packed with the very best
ingredients and micronutrients you can
always stop in to your local health food
store or even grocery store and ask
someone in the supplement department to
help you find the right ones for you ok
so let’s do a quick recap micronutrients
are the essential vitamins and minerals
your body needs to thrive and some good
ways to get a daily dose is from herbs
and veggies homemade electrolyte water
and supplements if you’re interested in
