Logan’s Story – The Ketogenic Diet for Epilepsy
Logan is ten years old.
He is full of life.
He loves to play outdoors.
He loves going to the park.
He’ll always introduce himself
to new people.
“Hi, my name’s Logan”.
Logan has been suffering from seizures most of his life.
It started with one per year.
Then, as he got older, it got worse.
He started having seizures that were
He has tried every single medication
He was very tired, sluggish.
We got to the point where the
neurologist here said
“there is nothing I can do for him”.
I was crying.
I literally broke down.
I’m not the kind of parent or person that
You’re not going to tell me my kid is just
going to have to suffer.
That’s when I got on the computer
and did some research and I
found out about the ketogenic diet.
They don’t do it anywhere in the state of
I had to go outside of the state.
I just told myself that I need to
I need to do this for him.
I need to do this for myself and
for my family.
I love the team we have.
I’m in constant contact with the doctor and the nutritionist.
If he needs a refill on one of his meds,
if I have a question about the diet,
they are just a phone call away.
So, we’ve been doing the keto diet
for about a year and a half,
but I saw an immediate change.
A significant decrease in seizures.
He’s off of the meds that were making him
He’s more enthusiastic to learn.
Then, I knew I was doing the
right thing because I saw
I saw the change, so it made me
want to continue the ketogenic diet.
Using KetoCal made the ketogenic
diet so much easier.
I don’t have to worry about the
ratios when making Logan’s food
because everything is already
I mix it to make chocolate pudding.
That is his favorite.
For the g-tube feedings, I use the KetoCal
It’s so much easier in a carton.
Everything is in there.
I don’t have to mix anything. I just shake
it up and pour it down his tube.
KetoCal Connect- It’s a lot of help.
I go on there, I get recipes.
There’s help, there’s support.
There is a starter kit that KetoCal
Connect offers new parents
that are dealing with the
Everything is in that starter kit that you
If your child is suffering with epilepsy,
don’t give up.
There is help out there.
You need to fight for your child and ask a
lot of questions.
I”m very happy with the progress.
He has come so far.
He’s a fighter.
He is very strong.
Everything that he has overcome.
Sometimes I just stare.
I just look into his eyes and he’ll just look
at me and smile.
And just to see that smile, I know that it
was all worth it.
