LARGE FAMILY MEAL PREP | Healthy Snacks for Family & Kids (with Mr. Travis, too!!!)

January 23, 2020 0 By William Morgan

– Well, well, we meet again. And we’re in the kitchen, again. Such is life, right? Hi there, mamas. I’m Jamerrill, welcome back to my channel. If you’re new here, I am always runnin’ my
mouth about motherhood, a whole lot of homeschooling, and even more super mega
food stuff all the time. Today we are going to
prep a moderate amount of fresh fruits and
vegetables for healthy, large family snacks for this coming week. And today’s meal prep
video is sponsored by the Work Sharp Culinary
E5 knife sharpener. Because there is gonna be a
whole lotta choppin’ goin’ down. And we get some Mr. Travis in this vlog action.
(sharpener whirs) Of course, we’ll have some
knife sharpener action in the background. But if you have seen all
these food videos comin’ out, I am getting ready to leave for
a six-day trip to California with Jadin and Zion. I know, it may seem like
I’m a jet-setter, I’m not. I’m just a momma runnin’ around just a little too much right now. But don’t worry, this is the last big trip
without the whole family that’s comin’ up anytime soon. But Travis is still gonna
be home with six kids ages 12 and under, all the
way down to Mr. Benjamin, who’s now 15 months. So if you can imagine, you
know, a dad with six kids, it’s nice to help a fella
out and have food prepped. So this is what we’re gonna
prep for the coming days. We got two heads of
cauliflower, celery, carrots, I have these romaine hearts. I bought these with the intention
of me usin’ ’em as a wrap for different meals, however,
I’m leaving in two days, I haven’t used ’em yet. So we better chop this up
and serve it up as salad. We have several blocks
of cheese goin’ on here. We have nine colored
peppers, three cantaloupes, and then three English cucumbers. So we are going to prep
it all up for the week. Another thing I want to
show you that’s really cool, is usually, like with our
other electric knife sharpener, there’s always little pieces of crud, I always say it looks like
pencil shavings all around. However, this Work Sharp
Culinary E5 knife sharpener has a vacuum and magnet
system that’s built right in. So this keeps debris and
grit from accumulating, and that is really nice
whenever you’re also gonna be choppin’ a whole big pile of food that your family’s gonna eat. Travis is so in love with this thing, (laughs) so he’s been givin’
me all the setting updates. So you can choose whether
you need to shape your knife, sharpen your knife, or refine your knife. It has a timer. That wasn’t even in my little
list of things to know, but, – [Travis] All you have
to do is pull through until the timer stops. – Pull through till the timer
stops, the man has spoken. So the E5 gives your
knives a razor-sharp edge in less than 90 seconds. (light relaxing music) So while Travis is doin’ all
of that glorious choppin’, I’ll show ya what else I’ve
been workin’ on over here in my pressure cookers. So I just cooked 10 pounds of boneless, skinless chicken breasts. I’m also gonna be doing some
bulk dinner freezer meals. Not in this video, but I
thought I’d show you my meat. So that’s 10 pounds of chicken. And then over here, I’m gettin’ ready to put some sausage in for some other freezer meals. So Travis has been doin’ a wonderful job gettin’ these all sliced up. I’m gonna be the happy bag girl. People have asked me about storing bulk, pre-made healthy snacks. And so a lot of times, I
just use these gallon bags. You can also reuse bags, I know some moms have
asked me if I reuse bags, and I certainly do, and I
certainly have in the past. As long as they’re not bags
that meat has been stored in. But if they’re just bags
that have been used for like cucumbers and peppers, you can always rinse those
or wash ’em and use ’em several more times. I don’t know ladies, this might be the perfect
Christmas or birthday gift for your husband who loves to
grill and play with knives, as Mr. Travis does. Using a sharpener is a quick
and easy way to upgrade your home chef skills. Next up, we’re gonna have Travis cut a bunch of cheese sticks. Now I love to get the
six-pound cheese logs that I get at a super discount at Sharp Shopper Grocery Outlet. Haven’t been there in several weeks. So we just picked these up the other day for him to do a whole bag of
homemade cheese sticks for us. And then what I’m gonna work on is, I have two heads of cauliflower here. I had ordered a bunch of
cauliflower from, again, that last infamous Walmart
grocery haul gone awry. Anyway, these are some
fresh heads of cauliflower that Travis picked up for me. I’m gonna go ahead and
chop these down and get ’em in the freezer. Daniel just brought in his
animal crackers from outside, and said here Mommy, I
don’t want ’em, you eat ’em. I just thought that was funny, considering we’re here
choppin’ all these veggies. (light relaxing music) So here we go, here is all the nice,
big chunks of cauliflower that I cut up. I did it a little bigger
than I would’ve done if the kids were gonna eat
this cauliflower as a snack, for dipping and such. I don’t mind these great big
pieces because when I get home from my trip, I will boil
this big thing of cauliflower. And cook it up with a
bunch of salt and pepper, butter, it will be so good. Now I’m gonna bag up all of these carrots. What we’ve done before, in the past, I even have an article on it
over on largefamilytable.com, when we do a lot of bulk carrot sticks, Travis has done 10, 15
pounds or so at a time. I think this was only like
maybe three pounds of carrots. But whenever we’ve done
the really big bags, and have done up to 15 pounds, we will put these in water in
a cereal storage container. Again, that article will
be linked down below. But it’ll keep your carrot
sticks and celery sticks fresh for up to a week. You can even use a little
dipper spoon so that everyone’s not puttin’ their hands in there. A couple different ways you can do it. Again, I’ve got a whole post on that. But for these, these are gonna be gone, I betcha like in two days. No way that this small amount, am I gonna put ’em in water and do that. ‘Cause we just don’t
need to with this batch. Travis sure has been choppin’ happy for us.
(sharpener whirs) Now he’s sharpenin’ with the E5 again. Boy, that looks good on
the countertop, doesn’t it? So we only have three cantaloupes left. I’m going to pass those
off to Mr. Travis as well. So Travis has two cantaloupes
all prepped and ready, and now this third one he’s gonna slice up for us to have right now. So thanks again to the Work Sharp Culinary E5 knife sharpener for
sponsoring today’s video. That sleek knife sharpener
sure made it easy for all of this food prep that we did. We’ve got lots of cantaloupe, cauliflower, again, that’s goin’ in
the freezer for mama. We’ve got orange, red and
yellow bell pepper slices. I’ve got three pounds of carrots, some celery sticks the
kids will have with dip. We have three different
types of cheeses, Colby, I think we had a provolone, and then we have some pepper jack. Pretty much all the kids like pepper jack. And then this nice thing
of English cucumbers. So check out the first link
in the description below to learn more about the
E5 by Work Sharp Culinary. And I’ll see ya real soon with another brand new video, bye-bye.
