Keto Diet Basics | Things they don’t tell you

Hi guys, so today I’m sharing a little bit more about my keto journey
It’s been about six weeks and I lost about 5 to 6 kg. There’s so much information
So I’m thinking of cutting this video into a different few parts. With regards to the first part, which I’m covering today
It’s going to be more about the preparation before you even start keto
So if you’re interested to find out about my keto journey, just stay on and watch it all
I hope you are able to learn something from my sharing today. And yeah!
So the very first question people ask is what is keto?
Keto is a low carb high fat diet and that puts your body into a state of ketosis
which means that it is a state where your metabolic rate actually increases by a lot because
you are reducing the amount carbs that you are taking in and
You also increase the number of fat so your body is taking the energy from the fats that you are eating and ingesting more so than like
Taking it from your normal
carbs and sugar
So yeah
So in a normal keto diet people actually
Follow a certain ratio for the number of fat the number of carbs and protein that you are ingesting. So normal keto diet should include
75% fats
20% protein and 5% percent of carbs. For myself, I am a lazy keto diet, which means that I don’t track
My macros – Macros means these ratios. I don’t track it like so
Strictly if I were to do that, I would be so totally not motivated at all
but what I do is just to tell myself not to eat carbs and sugar and
Yeah, and i eat a lot of healthy fats, that’s about it. Watch out for my next video if you want to know what I eat
Generally for like breakfast lunch dinner snack supper duh. Yeah, so I wanted to share a bit about what I achieved
across these six weeks
It’s not just about weight loss when I started keto I was waiting and about 62kg
62 to 63 and now which is like six weeks later. I am at about 57 to 58 the discrepancy in the
1kg depending on whether I have pooped or not
Weight loss is one thing that you will actually gain from this which I know is what everybody wants especially those females out there
You guys want to like lose weight want to look good, etc
And yes
This definitely helps with weight loss, but I must say that
Everybody’s body is different and there’s some people who will get into ketosis slower. And therefore you lose less weight across six weeks
So it takes a person from two to seven days to get into full ketosis
So, please just give yourself some patience and some time and just understand the everybody’s different
Okay, on top of just numbers like weight loss and like number kgs that we have lost
I also just want to say that I have also improved in like my mental state as well
So in terms of like confidence, so I really feel a lot better about my body
Okay in my past I was in TAF club, so TAF club is basically a club for
Obese and overweight students in Singapore schools. Okay, so I was TAF club for about eight years. It was a bit traumatizing and like
embarrassing for a child
So what they do in TAF club is to make you run around the school
Before school starts to like basically burn off some weight
Okay but the most embarrassing part about this is that you are running
when all the other students are just walking around so for me, it was very embarrassing because I really felt like
like I know I am overweight and like I really don’t want to but
i know that I’m not doing enough exercise, but still, can you put me in an enclosed environment, please?
You know, so I think this weight thing is like quite sensitive for me
So like after I hit 60 kg right I had like this
Motivation to find a way to like cut it down. After the six weeks right,
I really feel like I have gained a lot of confidence
In terms of how I feel about my body what I wear and on top that because of my LASIK experience
Which I will share in the near future. In general, I feel more confident about myself
A sub point to my confidence will also be because what i feel internally. Before I started keto I was
ingesting a lot of like nonsense food, for example
I wouldn’t care about what i eat, basically i will eat anything and everything, which is bad. Okay, like
It’s just bad
Okay
When you are in keto and you start preparing your own meals
You start taking more awareness into what you are actually eating and what you are actually putting into your body
You feel like you’re eating cleaner. I wouldn’t say you’re eating clean
My diet has became so much cleaner compared to before and because of that, I really feel a lot more
Energetic. I don’t feel sleepy after lunch. I don’t feel lethargic, basically
Yeah, so I think this diet is like cleaner and better for your body as well
Okay, so I think a lot of videos out there, they don’t cover this point
but here I am and I want to share about what I’ve given up for this keto diet and
What you might potentially need to give up as well, okay?
So first thing you need to know that you are trying to build a habit this diet this a habit
at the core. There are a lot of things that will tempt you in life
But you just need to try to stop yourself from it. Okay?
So number one is discipline that you really have to control your mind and control your mouth
Okay, like don’t go around eating all the nonsense that is not keto
Okay, because you’re just gonna gain all of it back because this is a habit-forming thing
You really have to take time and you need to be patient with yourself by taking time
I mean spending time on researching about what keto is and the recipes etc
So I can’t share every single detail with you. So please take some time to do that
secondly
If you want to meal prep and you want to control your meals and control what you ingest in your body even more
So than normal that takes time you need to take time to find recipes
You need to take time to go to the supermarket to buy groceries
You need to take time to cook you need to take time to heat up your food, etc
So all these things take time
So if you are not ready to commit some time to it
I would suggest not to because you’re gonna break your diet and you will gain even more weight because you are taking in fat and
Carbs and sugar all at the same time
Last but not least would be in social situations
So this is one of the points that I really need to cover. Okay?
I’m lucky that I had friends that were very very supportive
I have heard of my friends who like go on keto and their friends are like what is this diet?
Like why must you go on a diet, you are already like skinny enough and you look good already…
So
Okay, my friends are not like that. Okay, so please surround yourself with friends that are supportive of your diet and
They are aware of it as well
So, please tell your friends that you are on this diet, and I can’t eat this
I can’t eat this and I’m serious about it show them that you are serious by bringing your meal preps into work, etc
Okay, so, please let them be aware about your diet and encourage them to encourage you
Okay, stop you from eating on a nonsense when you see a cup of bubble tea
What you expect them to say would be come on man don’t have that man you are gonna get even fatter. Okay, don’t take it
Yeah, and a point about social difficulties would be when you need to you need to go and eat out
Basically you eat out because you want to celebrate somebody’s like birthday
Somebody’s wedding, etc
There would be a difficult part because there are a lot of things that you can’t eat when you’re in that kind of situation
Control what you eat
Make sure you are selective of what you eat make sure you’re not eating all the nonsense and last but not least
Of course
you need to have friends that are supportive of what you’re doing 3 pointers
Summarize the three points that are really really important if you want to go on keto so number one
Are you ready to form a habit? Do you have the discipline? Do you have the determination to really wanna do it?
Okay number two. Can you commit the time to do it? Okay important number three, please
Ensure that your social circle is aware and they are encouraging of it
Okay
So these three pointers make sure you have all these three pointers before you get on
