EXPRESSING CONCERN ABOUT
POSSIBLY BEING FORCED TO BUY
MEALS ON CAMPU

JACKSONVILLE STATE TODAY AND
SPOKE TO STUDENTS ON BOTH SIDES
ABOUT THE PLAN THE SCHOOL SAYS
WOULD IMPROVE MEAL SERVICE. REPORTER: JACKSONVILLE STATE
UNIVERSITY IS CONSIDERING A PLAN
THAT WOULDN’T JUST MAKE IT
MANDATORY FOR STUDENTS WHO LIVE
ON CAMPUS TO BUY A MEAL PLAN,
BUT ALL STUDENTS, INCLUDING THOSE WHO COMMUTE TO AND FROM
CAMPUS.>>I FEEL LIKE THAT’S UNFAIR FOR
STUDENTS THAT ARE LIKE ALREADY
OFF-CAMPUS. THEY’VE BEEN GOING HERE THE PAST
THREE, ALMOST FOUR YEARS.>>I MEAN, I WOULD DEFINITELY
APPROVE OF IT OF COURSE IT WENT
WHERE IT’S SUPPOSED TO BE GOING
AND NOWWHERE ELSE. REPORTER: IF THE PROPOSAL
BECOMES REALITY, STUDENTS WHO
LIVE OFF CAMPUS WOULD HAVE TO
PAY $275 PER SEMESTER FOR A MEAL
PLAN. THE MONEY WOULD GO TOWARDS
BUILDING A NEW DINING HALL ON
CAMPUS. BOTH THE STUDENT GOVERNMENT
ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT AND THE
VICE PRESIDENT OF STUDENT
AFFAIRS ARE PART OF THE ONGOING
TALKS TO HELP ENSURE STUDENTS
