How to start the Keto Diet

we are all on a quest to live healthy and one of the things that you may consider is changing your diet so many diets out there so many options so joining us this morning to kind of talk about it break it down and dispel some of the myths Rachael Todd a licensed health coach and Miss United States 2017 good to have you back Rachael see your smile right now thank you this is becoming a regular thing okay we’re happy to have you here one of our newer residents here in Jacksonville so we’re glad to have you here because before then you were just passing through Quito a lot of people talk about it yep everybody complains about it you see people saying oh I’m Tito I can’t do this I can’t do that especially on social media the question is first of all what the heck is Quito okay so what we’re talking about here is a diet that actually was brought about in the 1920s to help with epilepsy and what they found is that when they put somebody on intermittent fasting in a high-fat a little bit of protein and low carb diet diet or eating pattern they noticed that there was some awesome side effects they started to really lose a lot of fat and they had more energy a lot more mental clarity so that diet started in the 1920s and it had a lot of science to back it up and keto I’m guessing is related to ketosis ketosis is this state that your body goes into when you’re having your body burn more fat versus glucose which is your body’s first go-to source for energy or fuel so when we put in lots of carbohydrates highly processed foods sugary things those frappuccinos from Starbucks they make us feel very energized because your body likes that fuel first what happens energy it’s fake energy it drops you off quickly and if anything extra in the body gets stored as fat so when we start to starve our body of that glucose of that source of fuel it has no other option but to go to the second best source of fuel which is fat and when you’re giving your body a high fat diet it’s pulling from that source and then it starts to go to your fat storage areas and that’s when people start to notice significant changes mm-hmm and it gets rid of that bloating and you just feel better with that long lasting energy you feel satiated you feel fuller longer I will that there are very extreme Quito and then there’s the moderate Quito so it’s definitely adaptable to a lifestyle where people don’t have to say all the time I can I’m on Quito like that’s just annoying nobody wants to happen I just went traveling and it was my buddy’s birthday and he was turning 30 and his whole life he just kind of ate whatever he wanted and now he’s trying to be healthy cuz he’s like oh my gosh I’m 30 he’s starting to notice I’m Tito and the whole times I can’t have that Quito can’t have that Quito but you do have some great options here so I threw together some snacks and these are actually already in my fridge and so avocados are a great source of healthy fat and a great alternative to the chips is some crunchy vegetables I cut up cucumbers here you can also do carrot sticks you could do radish slices and it’s a celery that type of thing obviously you can whip up some guacamole I made this last night so it’s not as bright green as it was last night and of course we can also go to the desert snacky side of things the deserts are possible there’s our possible yeah this is called a peanut butter cup keto fat bomb so essentially it’s gonna keep you satiated what’s in here is coconut oil almond butter and a vegan protein powder so you’re getting protein you’re getting fat and then you’re getting obviously a little bit of carbohydrates from the almond butter it’s gonna stay full longer so that’s maybe something good after you workout maybe go for a run yeah yeah absolutely yep refueling the body and then of course I just have these little shredded coconut flakes here make sure it says unsweetened on there a lot of times with coconut they’re adding sugar and coconut is sweet enough as it is absolutely so this can be a topping for Greek yogurt which I know you love because we’ve been working on grocery store tours together and I believe we were cooking till like 11 o’clock on Wednesday night we passed that a little bit it’s been great and I’ve got my meals but we do it once and then you’re fed till next week hopefully right sure yeah sure well thank you so much yeah well quickly if people want to reach out if they have any questions for you the best way is they can reach me info at Rachel Todd comm and I now have an office in premier medical spa in South Pointe Parkway at six eight one seven South Pointe Parkway and I know just last night you guys did the grand open we had a grand opening or ribbon-cutting it was great we had a lot of a lot of people come out and check out the new space after your medical spa cool Rachel Cod good to have you back with more health advice for now though I want to send it over to Nikki all right thank you guys
