– Hey guys, it’s Candice. How do I usually start my show? Hey guys, it’s Candice from the Edgy Veg and today I’m going to
show you how to make delicious energy balls three ways. (upbeat music) So, I know that we’ve been
MIA for like four months and we haven’t been making videos. So, sorry about that but
also I’m not all that sorry because James and I spent three
months writing a cookbook. So, we have a cookbook and
you can preorder it right now. Click the link in the description
box and order it, yay. Subscriber of the week this
week Thea Cobb, like the salad. Thank you Thea for watching and commenting and always liking our videos. And, if you wanna be
subscriber of the week you just have to like and
comment and follow us everywhere. All the links are in the
description box below. All right, back to balls. I’m sure that you know
what energy balls are. They’re all over Pinterest and
they’re all over Instagram. They’re just little tiny balls,
start the ball counter now. They’re healthier than an
energy bar because they’re made at home and they’re
not full of a bunch of preservatives and sugar. You can have like two
or three for breakfast. They give you energy right away. They’re a great little
snack if you’re going between classes or you’re
commuting and you just needs something really quick. You can put them right in
your purse or your backpack and you can refuel whenever you need to. Today, we are making three
different types because one type of ball just is not enough. I like to have a wide
array of ball flavors in my life and I know that
you will appreciate it, too. The first flavor we’re going
to make is chocolate chip. It tastes like a chocolate chip cookie. It’s so good. The second one is a chocolate blueberry which is just oh my
God it’s so chocolately and the blueberry is um-nom-nom-nom. And, number three is birthday cake because who doesn’t wanna eat cake for breakfast? I do, it’s delicious. If you have any kiddos running around they will appreciate
the sprinkles as well. And, they just look
pretty and I like pretty. To make our balls we are going
to need a food processor. If you don’t have a food
processor you can still do this. It’s not gonna be as
easy though, no you need a food processor so get a food processor. The key to a good firm
ball is that you need some sort of nut butter and
some sort of sticky sweetener. So today we are using a
combination of dates and agave and then nut butters and some
oats to hold it all together. All right, let’s make
these chocolate chip ones. So, what you’re going to do
need is old fashioned oats, quick oats, you’re gonna need some dates as well as some agave. That’s gonna hold it altogether. Add some almond butter, vanilla, and salt and then mix that in the food processor until it’s fully combined. And, it should be really sticky. Okay, now we’re gonna add the fun stuff. So, I like chocolate chip cookies
with chocolate chips, duh. But, I also like walnuts in
my chocolate chip cookies. So, I’m gonna add both of
those and then we’re gonna pulse it to combine. The more nuts in my balls the better. Now, you’re just gonna take this mixture transfer it into bowl and
then put it in the fridge for about 30 minutes. This is important time
because all the stickiness of the ingredients kind of binds together and then what you have after 30 minutes is a dough that you can
really work into balls, to shape into balls. You don’t want lopsided
balls, or falling apart balls. You want good, firm balls. All right, while those are in the fridge let’s make the second balls,
the chocolate and blueberry. Mm, these ones are my favorite. I love, love, love dried blueberries. If you don’t know where to
find them I will leave a link. All right, I’ve cleaned
out the food processor so we’re gonna do this
whole thing over again. We are going to add
cashews, quick cooking oats, not the old fashioned, for
this one you want quick. Of course we need our blueberries
and then medjool dates to hold it all together. For the chocolate flavor we’re
going to add cacao powder, vanilla, and a pinch of salt
and mix that all together until it becomes a paste. All right, again we’re
going to put this into bowl, stick it into the fridge for 30 minutes so that we can have good, workable balls. All right, the last one and the fun one. The first thing we’re going to do is make macadamia nut butter. So, I’m just adding a
cup of macadamia nuts into my food processor and
running it until it’s butter. Now, we’re going to
add old fashioned oats, make sure they’re old
fashioned and not quick and then some coconut flour. The coconut really gives this
a nice flavor and texture. Then, some more agave
because we gotta make that stuff stick together
just like good friends. You gotta stick together. For the birthday cake
flavor we are going to add both almond and vanilla
extract, a pinch of salt, and then pulse it again
until it’s a lovely dough. Now, the fun part. We are going to add shredded
coconut, unsweetened, I mean, unless you want
it to be sweetened. It’s just extra sugar. It’s really up to you and then sprinkles. We’re gonna pulse that to combine. And yup, they’re going
back into the fridge with the other ones. All right, it’s been 30
minutes, let’s make some balls. Now, you can do this
with an ice cream scoop or a spoon, or well those really
are your only two options. All you have to do is scoop the batter with your ice cream scoop and
then put it into your hand and form it into a ball. Put it onto a baking sheet
lined with parchment paper and then stick it in the
fridge for yep, you guessed it, another 30 minutes. (upbeat music) After 30 minutes you
can just leave them in the fridge or put them into Tupperware and then you have balls forever. These guys are good in the
fridge for about five days. But, if you want them to last longer just put them in the freezer. They’ll last like a month
as long as you don’t get freezer burn, well not you, the balls. I’m not really concerned about
you getting freezer burn. I’ve got balls. I’ve got a lovely bunch
of balls, deedly-deedly. (laughs) Okay, let’s try some balls. I’m going to start with
the chocolate blueberry. I’m just gonna start
putting dried blueberries in everything because
it is f-ing delicious. It’s like healthy candy,
that’s what this tastes like. Now, it’s time for
chocolate chip with walnuts. This tastes like a chocolate chip cookie. If you like chocolate
chip cookies with walnuts you will love this. I’m going to a music festival this weekend and I’m totally putting a
bunch of these in my backpack. And then, hopefully,
offering them to security as they try to take them away from me. I don’t know why they can’t
stop busting my balls. I’m just trying to bring
in a healthy snack. Next, my hair is stuck to this. Don’t drop them on the floor
unless you want hairy balls. Right, last but definitely
not least and definitely the most fun we have birthday cake. Oh, mm, I feel like I’m
five again and I like it. This is perfect if you have kids. Like, what child would not wanna eat this. So, if you’re trying to get them to eat like a healthy snack and all
they’re asking for is candy give them one of these and
then you’re tricking them into eating healthy. And that, my friends,
is how you make three delicious energy packed balls that you can keep in your purse or in your
backpack or in your gym bag to pop in your mouth
whenever you’re feeling a little dip in the old energy battery. So, thank you so much for watching. Make sure that you hit
