Lots of sickness is lead to this Reply sooooooooDark says: September 20, 2019 at 12:16 pm we r meat eating starch eatersto both we r maladapted (the former gives u heart attack, the later autoimmune issues + glasses and it cuckifies u); meat = -quantity of life; starch = -quality of life (okay if u get a stroke from meat then thats a -quality of life too i guess lol) Reply -a-VEnGeANce says: September 20, 2019 at 12:19 pm If this is not demonstrable scientific evidence for the ages that humans have evolved to be best suited for optimal health on a plant based diet and not a carnivorous one… then what is? (Rhetorical question) Reply Kevin Marte says: September 20, 2019 at 12:19 pm No one: Body: What are we starving here?! Reply Reverend Al says: September 20, 2019 at 12:20 pm Someday, perhaps my poop will be nicely mounted and shown in a museum display. One can only hope. Reply urthebest1122 says: September 20, 2019 at 12:20 pm Ewww. Ok… I’ll watch since it’s science 🧪. Reply FellVoice says: September 20, 2019 at 12:22 pm This is so true. I've been eating about two servings of oatmeal a day for the past week and I barely think about eating because I have almost no hunger throughout the day. Reply Natural Hulkster says: September 20, 2019 at 12:23 pm The recommended amount of fiber intake a day is between 25-30 grams for Americans… I wonder why every American is so hungry and bloated all the time? Reply SteVen Summers says: September 20, 2019 at 12:36 pm It's interesting that animal eaters claim eating animal flesh is what developed our brain functions, yet in order to have discovered how to create fire, in the first place, to cook our food, took cognitive functioning already pre developed which was a natural result of a diet in consuming plant matter. Reply ironkey34 says: September 20, 2019 at 12:44 pm Are you saying that I could have been the Indiana Jones of poop! Reply Stuart Wright says: September 20, 2019 at 12:48 pm And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb yielding seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for food: Reply Kamil - says: September 20, 2019 at 1:08 pm Fruitarians were right, I had a feeling about that. Fruit is probably only food that we can eat right away without any preparation and it is delicious and satisfying for us. Reply Purple Carrot says: September 20, 2019 at 1:10 pm Except there is a difference between sources of fiber. Fiber from vegetables and fruits is good, from beans and grains not so much. And those paleo poo don't have grain fiber it is fruit and leaf fiber Reply I like Potatoes says: September 20, 2019 at 1:11 pm That's it I knew it, Neanderthals main source of food was tofu. Thanks Greger #veganpower Reply Elsje Massyn says: September 20, 2019 at 1:12 pm China is importing tonnes of meat from Africa per dayThey may have lived plant based years ago but not anymore Their food is mainly meat centered Reply Universal Soldier says: September 20, 2019 at 1:18 pm I am totally on board with this science, but I have to wonder why we enjoy the smell of cooked meats but we run away from cooking broccoli…especially in the work microwave. If we were destined to be plant eaters, why don't we crave spring mix salads without dressing and raw potatoes? Reply A3 Skywarrior says: September 20, 2019 at 1:21 pm 2019 and humans still don’t know they are fruit eaters by design , amazing the brainwashing Reply Daraya Vahu says: September 20, 2019 at 1:26 pm I had doctors tell me that the little bit over 100 grams of fiber in my diet (WFPB of course) is very wrong, and there is nothing I can say… 😔🙄 Reply JR0752 Gamer says: September 20, 2019 at 1:33 pm Nice ape poop Reply The Existential Vegan says: September 20, 2019 at 1:36 pm I don't understand this. Our species is about 200,000 years old. Are these the poops he's talking about. From this vid and others he's done, it sounds like he's going a lot farther back than that. I'm vegan but how can you make this claim when you're talking about evidence that's in the millions of years. There were no humans. Human like, yes. Ape like yes. Ultimately these were creatures that didn't make it. Reply Arthritis to Athlete says: September 20, 2019 at 1:41 pm 100g of fiber! Reply Mike Symth says: September 20, 2019 at 2:02 pm How can you determine that fossilized poop found from 10,000+ years ago was from humans, monkeys or other animals? I call BS on that. Reply Vegan Rocker says: September 20, 2019 at 2:14 pm My poops are so beautiful that I give them stately towering names like Agamemnon or Romulus. Likewise, free them from the onslaught of disease and obesity through the wonders of dietary fiber, and they cling to their white rice, bleached flour and protein quotas. You can lead a human to logic, but you can't make them think. Reply Drew Henrichs says: September 20, 2019 at 3:04 pm "Humans are designed to be fruit eaters" is something that sounds great on paper, until you realize we've bred our fruit to have way more sugar than what was found in nature in the first place. And our digestive tracts are way more adaptable than other species that only eat fruit, or meat, etc. Reply Soy pusher says: September 20, 2019 at 3:04 pm That’s not vegan poop, it would have soaked into the ground! Reply JustOneAsbesto says: September 20, 2019 at 3:15 pm This video showed up as a recommended video on itself. Good job, YouTube. Reply April Hall says: September 20, 2019 at 3:16 pm Well, dang, why I haven’t I read about this in the Science Times section of the NYT? Instead, I read about how giving obese people fecal pills from skinny people, to give them “skinny people “ gut bacteria. Oh yeah, this ties in with the how the media gets information from the medical journals which are heavily influenced by big pharma and agriculture. Reply Johnny Deep says: September 20, 2019 at 3:30 pm While I am in almost full agreement with the conclusion that higher fiber is better for us, with respect to the "paleo poop" specifically, how do we know that the few examples that have been found reflect the majority of all ancient poop? Perhaps high-fiber poop just fossilized better, or its content varied considerably depending on local seasonal and circumstantial food availability? Reply Rivka SC says: September 20, 2019 at 3:53 pm Reading through the comments… food does not bring out the best in people. It looks like many who post here know EVERYTHING, it must be hard for them to post to the rest of the ignorant people on this comment section, but I'm really grateful that they take the time to tell us the truth. Reply The Verbally Abusive Clown says: September 20, 2019 at 3:59 pm I get around 70 grams of fiber per day mainly from chia seeds and flaxseeds. I monitor my toilet tissue supply very diligently. Just saying… Reply nerina d'istra says: September 20, 2019 at 4:03 pm it ins't just fiber, it's all those other nutrients like vitamin C and minerals, and so on. I bought a gallon of frozen orange (imported from Spain), and I kept drinking massive quantities (defrosted) and was never left feeling satisfied. I concluded that because it was cooked, brought up to a certain temperature that vitamin C was destroyed and so the body's demand for vitamin c was not met no matter how much juice I consumed. Reply Kain Riot says: September 20, 2019 at 4:23 pm More rubbish from Dr “wouldn’t survive a second outside a city” loool 💩💯 Reply bobandmaryw says: September 20, 2019 at 4:24 pm primarily carnivore here, no need for all those greens and no need for all that fiber. You ever think maybe those folks long ago were starving to death on all that fiber?? Just wondered , me? Consider the bloated American on grains, flours and sugar and sweet drinks, starving to death? Me: I'll stay carnivorous, satisfied, and eating less and glory in the wonders of the body, grazing little on above ground veggies. Thanks anyway, and you can stay full of Poop. Reply tamcon72 says: September 20, 2019 at 4:54 pm There are certain meater trolls here at plant-based & vegan YT for whom the crux of their arguments that we ought not to eat plant foods, or that we evolved to favor animal foods, is coprolite evidence of a meaty diet. Hope they're lurking under this video! Time to update you schema, meater trolls! TFP : ) Reply Larry Maloney says: September 20, 2019 at 5:03 pm This is one of the most important messages Dr. Greger has ever presented. And the graphic is most excellent visually contrasting the fiber diet vs the meat & dairy diet. Anyone who watches should understand. Only those suffering confirmation bias will miss the point. Reply gdcat777 says: September 20, 2019 at 5:14 pm That's coprolites not copper lights. Had to look that one up, and its the new name for my enemies. Reply Hot Viral says: September 20, 2019 at 5:43 pm I just look down at the comments section when you showed those poops. It's disgusting. Let's do a video for Hashimoto thyroid disease. PLEASE. I hate this disease. Reply Bitses says: September 20, 2019 at 6:15 pm Didn't they have to eat fruit because there was no fire to cook? Reply Sidilicious says: September 20, 2019 at 6:30 pm Fiber for health!🍎🍐🍊🍓🍇🍌🍉🍒🍑🥬🥒🥦🥕 Reply TestingU 4Research says: September 20, 2019 at 6:50 pm "Primarily plant based diet" does NOT mean "exclusively plant based diet" and it's misleading to imply otherwise. Reply happens2bvegan says: September 20, 2019 at 7:11 pm Amen! Reply Lauren Burger says: September 20, 2019 at 7:54 pm Oh, and not only Poop, it is known that our ancestors in Europe ate those that they killed from other tribes – Yes, Cannibalism. – – Fiber is the new drug and Metamucil is king of the toilet, unless you eat plants. Reply Trenxee says: September 20, 2019 at 11:35 pm Uhmmm… humans also tripled their lifespan post-paleolithic era. Reply ReallyOrganic says: September 20, 2019 at 11:53 pm Wow! Great video. Can you do a follow up with what it looks like in a day to eat 100 grams of fiber? What should we eat? Thanks! Reply DL V says: September 21, 2019 at 1:03 am How in the hell do you get 100 grams of fiber in a day? Cardboard??? Reply Nicky J says: September 21, 2019 at 1:06 am To think we humans are meant to be the most intelligent species, yet reading the comments it’s clear that we can’t all agree on what to eat. Animals just instinctively know what they’re meant to eat. We’ve lost our instincts along the way. Reply nino nikki says: September 21, 2019 at 2:31 am Great!! We were eating fruits n veggies during snowy winters. Reply mutjan says: September 21, 2019 at 5:45 am The estimated daily fibre intake table showed at the very beginning at this video is modified. In the orginal paper "Studying the Human Gut…" it has 2 data of paleo diet "Palaeolithic diet reported in 1985 (35% meat, 65% vegetables) " of 45.7g fibre and "Palaeolithic diet modified in 1997 (50% meat, 50% vegetables)" of 104g fibre. I then checked the reference of the1997 data,it's from "Eaton SB, Eaton SB III, Konner MJ. Paleolithic nutrition revisited: a twelve year retrospective. Euro J Clin Nut 1997; 51: 207-16. ". I then checked that paper, it said: "We have collected from the literature nutrient analyses of wild plant and animal foods which have been utilized by recent gatherer-hunters and which were presumably consumed by preagricultural humans as well." IT IS NOT BASED ON Fossilized Feces Reply Mike H. says: September 21, 2019 at 6:18 am But we are soo civilized now? lol……nope Thnx Doc. Eat live foods but leave the wild animals alone. Reply muadhnate says: September 21, 2019 at 9:51 am So I'll focus on meat and fruit. Fruit makes sense given that we're so addicted to sugar. However, fiber limits the amount of sugar you can take in from fruit. Reply Mohammad Shafiullah says: September 21, 2019 at 11:15 am We don't need fibers. Carnivore dieters don't eat fiber. Reply heymisterderp says: September 21, 2019 at 11:31 am 0:47 Clearly a Tootsie Roll from 1987 Reply Andrea Wisner says: September 21, 2019 at 12:34 pm So why does the Daily Dozen include so much grain & legumes & vegetables? Can we replace some of that with fruit? Reply talanky says: September 21, 2019 at 12:48 pm Good video, thumbnail might be a little too graphic though Reply GrimSpeaker says: September 21, 2019 at 1:43 pm You are aware that meat is super well ingested and leaves little in the poop? Adding this and the study of NO content in humans, suggest we were superpredators because of the nitric oxide which we got from crude protein/meat was higher than other animals. Also, one could figure that early hunans were opportunists in a scarcity, eating plants which gave an evolutionary advantage to anyone unlike the ones that could not. And finding some poop for some time that might be an outlier that is preserved better, proves little. Why vegans belief became so dominating was bcs they thought we need to have been planteaters bcs of pur inability to create ascorbic acid; but raw meat has it and 10mg is enough to fight of scurvy. But you vegans need more c vitamin bcs of much carbs, to fight off one cause of cvd; scurvy of the arteries, increasing apolipoprotein little a, that evolutionary is suggested to patch arteries and its overshooting leads to narrowing. Reply James Bond says: September 21, 2019 at 2:15 pm I don't think a staunch vegan should discuss eating how "nature intended" given that pre-homeo species, while eating a large fiber diet, also thrived on meat and evolved beyond their ape-like cousins thanks to the caloric density of animal fat and the availability of softer fleshier fruit and tubers. The value of fiber is unquestionable (Paleo misses the boat discounting it). The belief that meat has/had no value in human nutrition is just wishful oversight (understating it's role in our evolutionary run). Reply Appleblade says: September 21, 2019 at 2:20 pm Or… you could eat like a carnivore and get your fat that way. Much simpler, more direct, and more full of absorbable nutrients… and very natural, too, for millions of years of human evolution. I doubt any humans ate 100g of fiber by choice, rather than by need. Plants taste like crap, if you haven't noticed. Reply Flattlander Montgomery says: September 21, 2019 at 8:25 pm That should be one of those 30 day challenges… eating 100 grams of fiber per day. Reply Hulagu Kahn says: September 22, 2019 at 1:48 am Millions of years ahhhh? Reply mjs1231 says: September 22, 2019 at 8:27 am Teeth tell it all. Bring anybody on to challenge this guy and he will wipe the floor with them.#gregeronrogan Reply Flying Angel says: September 22, 2019 at 1:48 pm What about the sugar content in fruits? And what about caries? These days there are rarely real foods for us to eat. Some are modified, for example grapes without seeds. Reply RoboticNoob says: September 22, 2019 at 3:12 pm What types of plantfoods where eatens in countries with harsh winters? Reply Being Your True Self Coaching says: September 22, 2019 at 3:20 pm I figured this out about the fruit for myself. I was always a big sugar addict and when I just let myself go crazy eating an unlimited amount of fruit i finally found a way to control my weight and feel like I was having "treats" when ever i wanted. I get frustrated with so many people I know who eat absolute junk and when I suggest fruit they say "oh NO that has too much sugar" and flares up my IBS" or "oh no starch makes me fat, I know my body." Meanwhile they are totally obese and when pressed to tell what they actually eat to fill up, they do not want to say. Reply Sami Yoni says: September 22, 2019 at 10:48 pm The eskimos/inuites ate a lot of vegetables, that is why they had no measure illnesses.I am being sarcastic Reply Brandon Miller says: September 23, 2019 at 1:08 am Dr. Greggor, I love your videos. I have to say that when you try to mix observational science with wild fairy tales like those dreamed up by men it's like smoke to the eyes or gravel to the teeth. Taking the tooth of an extinct pig and fantasizing about the whole creature and presenting it as fact of molecules-to-man evolution is a bit hard to swallow. And this keeps happening and lauded as iron clad, gospel truth science. Please understand that I'm by no means trying to mock anyone or offend. I just don't have enough patience for lies taught as truth. Jesus led me out of a cult, praise God! Please do your own research and don't allow the scientists bully you into believing their fantasies as fact. May the Lord Jesus Christ bless you with grace and peace! <3 Reply Balancing Life says: September 23, 2019 at 3:56 am I'm going to eat 100- of fiber tomorrow ill see you on the FUCHIN TOILET lol Reply King Of Kings says: September 23, 2019 at 8:39 am Fruit??? Reply King Of Kings says: September 23, 2019 at 3:29 pm Average Japanese eats about 18grams of fiber daily… I think they are living longer than Africans or rural Chinese Reply King Of Kings says: September 23, 2019 at 3:31 pm What fruit were they eating? Fruit barely existed back then…??? Something doesn’t sound right here buddy Reply ElCaupo says: September 24, 2019 at 4:42 pm how to get to 250g of fiber in paleo era when most of the fruits and plants weren't domesticated to grow big and less toxic as today? it means they were eating greens all day to reach that amount of fiber. Reply Joe Smith says: September 24, 2019 at 8:43 pm I'm about to eat 70 grams of fiber: 90% whole wheat bread, and most of the rest, 1 ounce of walnuts. 🙂 It's what I eat almost everyday, that or whole wheat pasta, and include spinach. I'll be trying the black beans soon from a can since I don't have a stove and need to use microwave at the moment. I can overeat bread pretty easily and did gain weight after losing a lot, so it's a balancing act of calorie density. Reply Hickory Tomato says: September 25, 2019 at 12:23 am I call bulkshit Reply shahin Paris says: September 30, 2019 at 3:14 pm Awesome ! Reply Aellgi says: October 9, 2019 at 7:10 pm Looking at the study where you get the 104g of fibers paleo poop data it says that a majority of the calories still came from meat, probably the high fiber estimations are there because of very low caloric plant matter. Seems weird to draw the conclusion of plant foods being the natural food using this data. Reply ErrorError says: October 15, 2019 at 6:18 pm I used to think the key to healthy eating was low caloric density, which is still true, but this adds a third element: high fiber density. When I look at foods now I'll be searching for the trifecta of low caloric density and high fiber density. The best example that comes to mind is Brussels sprouts: 1 cup = 38 calories = 3.3g fiber. Compare to some "whole grain" breads I've seen which come in at 220 calories with only 1g of fiber. Reply Leave a Reply Cancel reply Your email address will not be published.
