Your body will most likely produce ketones…but most people don't start to become fat adapted until 6 or so weeks in.. I'm assuming his exercise levels and overall fitness probably cuts that time down.. but keto is something you have to stick to for a while at least until you are adapted.. then when you cheat your body is better at going back to fat for fuel. The rebound is quicker.. idk it seems cheap to say I tried keto for 30 days.. producing ketones does not equal using ketones. This happens, along with keto flu, as a natural consequence of coming off carbs, and once you're fat adapted it disappears (this can take anything from 2 weeks to 8 weeks). A lot of people can't do it because they lack the willpower or motivation. A lot of people, like me, do it due to illness, and it makes all the difference. I don't criticise others because they eat carbs, but then, I don't care about others or their opinion of me or my diet. On a keto diet you do have to plan meals and READ labels, but you soon end up doing it naturally as a matter of course. One thing you need to make peace with prior to starting, is that you will need to cook all your meals. I meal prep on a Sunday for the week. I eat breakfast and lunch, skip dinner. If you want a great keto dessert, buy some full fat whipping cream (liquid) and mix it with cookies and cream protein powder from Costco. After you split it 5 ways (one for each work day) the net carbs are very much budget able. It tastes like cookies and cream mousse.
