Packing a lunch for busy moms can be a headache
sometimes. We want to make sure, when it comes
to kids, that we have something that’s going
to give them energy, fuel their bodies to
get through the day and it can also be fun.
Pack some salad greens, top it with some water-packed
tuna or chicken salad with some low-fat dressing
and make it a treat. We could always do carrots
or celery sticks with peanut butter for protein.
Chips, we don’t have to go without the chips
but how about choosing the baked chips? We
can do baked barbeque chips, plain chips,
or pretzels for a nice treat for a healthy
lunch. So once we have our chips we can use
some snack-size bags to get it all in. If
you want to add a beverage we can always do
some water or a juice box. Notice the size
of the juice box is about four ounces. For
your calcium we can go with chocolate milk
or one percent milk, skim milk, almond milk
or soy milk. We can use a sweet treat which
can be our fruit. Going for lean protein we
can use either our cheese, which will give
us the calcium and the protein, lean meat
on whole wheat. We’re trying to make half
of our grains whole so we can use our whole
wheat bread, bagel, pita or tortilla and that
would be a great lunch or snack on the go.
