Diet Tips : Drinking Alcohol on a Low-Carb Diet

Hi, this is Rachael Richardson, with Nutrolution,
in South Beach, Miami, Florida. In this clip,
we’re going to talk about how to drink alcohol
on a low carb diet. Now, I work with a lot
of people who are on low carb diets, and I
myself follow a low carb diet. Some people
think that you can’t safely or reasonably
drink some alcohol, and that’s really not
true. In fact, sometimes a glass of wine or
of your favorite drink is a, is a great way
to relax. It helps your neurochemistry, and
helps you sleep better at night too. So, I
don’t promote a lot, but a little bit is okay.
And some good choices are a red wine, and
I generally recommend organic wines, so a
nice organic red wine would be a great choice.
A glass of white wine is perfectly fine. Especially
something that’s less sweet, like a Chardonnay
or Sauvignon Blanc. If you want to have a
cocktail that’s okay too; however, try to
stay away from those kind of really fruity
and sweet drinks like those Midori Sours,
or those certain Martinis. One other trick
that I just wanted to mention to you is to
think about having a glass of sparkling water
with just a touch of lime or real cranberry
juice. And this actually serves its way as
a cocktail, but it’s very, very healthy, and
practically sugar-free. This is Rachael Richardson,
