Comment créer une Kokedama – Bonsaï

August 16, 2019 14 By William Morgan

Hello Youtube! This is Monsieur Bonsaï
Today it’s about Kokedama
From Japanese “Koke”=Moss
“Dama” (Tama)=Ball
A Kokedama is a moss ball
It can stand alone, on a plate
or suspended by a thread
and can contain a plant
like a little tree or bonsai
a grass or flowers
It is very easy to make and we will see how in this video
First of all: materials
You will need moss
Usually Haigoke
Foamed PE film
My personal tip and you will see why
and a plant
Now the soil
a mix of Keto, Akadama, Fuji sand
with a bit of fertilizer
To see how to make soil mix, see my other video in the link up there
Water it again
Make a ball to see how much soil you want to use
The soil must be a little sticky, malleable
in order to make the next step easy
let’s make some room
Begin by putting out the plant from the pot
Depending on the plant, take off some of the soil, untangle the roots
Or keep soil if it is specific and will help
For the moss, Haigoke
usually we find it in plate, dried
We just have to keep what we need
and store the rest
To know how to choose moss
look at the video in the link that appears right now
Now take the foam film
Take the soil
and spread out the soil to make a circle
A bit more in the center to make a hill
that will allow to put the plant in the center of the ball
Water again the soil, moss and plant
and place the plant
The main advantage in using the foam film
is that it will help making the ball more easily
without struggling with the hands
and because the foam film doesn’t stick
we will be able to moisture it
arrange it and make it bigger
very easily
add some soil where it needs to be
Water it
and finalize
When we have a nice form, make some room
in order to put the moss on
You just have to take the Haigoke plate
cover the ball
press gently
and adjust again to make it completely round
Now to maintain everything, we use sewing thread
or fishing line
it is not complicated
make a first knot
and make circles to maintain the all
If you think about a suspended moss ball
choose the fishing line
or better, think about an attachment system inside the soil ball
a last knot to finish
Et voilà ! Easy right?
Choose a nice plate and you nailed it !
I hope you enjoyed this video about Kokedama
simple, effective and easy to realize
