BEST SMOTHERED CHOPPED STEAK RECIPE! LOW CARB and KETO DIET FRIENDLY! NOREEN’S KITCHEN

Hi everyone, welcome back to the kitchen and today
I have a diner dinner classic for you a Blue Plate special if you will today
We’re gonna be making smothered chop steaks with onions mushrooms and Colby jack cheese. Let’s go see how this all comes together
Over the ingredients
for our
smothered chopped steak and this is really a throwback diner classic and it is inspired by
A diner that Rick and I used to love in Flagstaff, Arizona called the crown railroad cafe
They had something very similar to this that Rick enjoyed very much called the trucker’s special and it came with two hamburger patties
with cheese
Smothered in onions and mushrooms and then your choice of sides
I am sharing this today because I think it’s a really good option if you are
starting keto or a low low carb diet
This is something you can totally do and enjoy yourself along the way so we’re starting with beef burgers
This is just this what in my grocery store. They sell as a prime rib burger
It’s a high grade ground beef with
80/20 and we’re gonna fry those up and then we’re also gonna saute up some mushrooms
I’m gonna be doing these separately from the onions because my kid doesn’t enjoy onions
So if you want to do your onions and your mushrooms together?
That’s awesome. But I’m gonna do mine separate after we fry up the hamburgers in our iron skillet
we’re going to throw these onions in there and we’re going to saute them in the pan drippings that are left behind and
We’re gonna season our burger up with some burner and fry seasoning. This is my homemade burger and fry seasoning
I will leave a link down below to where you can find the recipe for that and then we’re also gonna put some
shredded Colby jack cheese on here
The butter is for me to saute the mushrooms in and if you want to see how I saute my mushrooms
I’ll leave a link to a video where I share that information as well
They are hands down the best sauteed mushrooms you will ever have I promise so we’re gonna move over to the stove
We’re gonna start frying off our burgers and then we’re going to show you how we do the rest. Okay, our burgers are finished
I’ve removed them from the pan
I’m just gonna set them off to the side and I’m not gonna do anything except put these onions in the pan
With these drippings now
The only other thing I’m gonna do is I’m gonna put a little bit of salt on these onions so that the water will begin
to draw out and
then you’re just gonna cook these down until
They’re about half of their volume right now
These are this is three large Peruvian sweet onions. You can use whatever kind of onions you prefer
The trick here is patience
You’re gonna want to let these cook down properly
If you need them to cook down a little more quickly, then you can put a lid on the pan
and
you can just allow them to steam and then you can take the lid off and then you can let
All of the water that’s cooked into the pan
Evaporate and as that happens. These are gonna caramelize and be
delicious and
Perfectly sauteing onions. Let me see. Let me get some salt in here. You can use whatever salt you like
I’m using a little kosher salt here because it’s easy for me to reach so we’ll be right back when these are ready to go

Our onions have sauteed completely and what I did was because my daughter Micah doesn’t like onions. I
sauteed the mushrooms in a separate pan
I took out some mushrooms for her serving and set them aside and I returned these burgers into this pan
I just kind of put all of the
Onions around the outside and now we’re just gonna go ahead and put the cheese on these burgers
This is just some shredded Colby jack cheese and you can put as little or as much as you like
Actually putting this on top will help facilitate the melting and then when this is all melty and perfect
We’ll serve it up. So I’ll be back in just a moment and we’ll fix you a plate there. We have it
there’s our smothered chopped steak aka burger with onions mushrooms and Colby jack cheese all
melty and delicious
I’ve paired this tonight with some green beans and some sweet potato fries
You can do whatever you like. If you’re on a special diet, you can adjust this to serve your needs, but this is just good
Old-fashioned comfort food at its best and it is low carb if you’re going that direction. So are you ready to try it?
