Adipex (Phentermine)…the MAGIC Fix for Weight Loss? Side Effects? Tips?

September 22, 2019 1 By William Morgan

Wooo! Just got this bottle of Adipex! I’m about to pop some pills and burn some
pounds…yeah it doesn’t quite work like
that. Hey guys I’m Dr. Bradley Fossier and I
created Post Script because I was tired
of my patients going online and getting
horrible information. So just in case
you’re checking this is a bottle of
vitamin b6 this isn’t Adipex. Adipex is a
common medicine that people come in
asking me for in my office. It’s a common
weight loss medicine so I’m here to
explain how it works what you can expect
from it does it work and what you need
to know first of all adipex the active
ingredient in it is phentermine
phentermine is a stimulant medicine I
think the best way to think of it is
think of that last time you went to an
amusement park and you see this like
glistening metal death trap machine your
friends are like we’re going on that and
like immediately your heart starts
pumping you start sweating you’re not
worried about what you’re eating for
lunch anymore so it’s an adrenaline rush
right it’s the fight-or-flight response
so what phentermine are adipex tries to
do is stimulate your body that low-level
adrenaline rush put into a pill form
just slow release throughout the day so
your body’s in this constant state of
activation that decreases your appetite
it increases your energy expenditure at
baseline and helps you lose weight so it
sounds great but there are some issues
really the manufacturers only recommend
taking adipex for about 12 weeks at a
time there are some studies which I’ll
link below that have looked at longer
term use of adipex but you can imagine
having a low-level adrenaline rush in a
pill it’s not something you want to do
long-term because their side effects
anytime you have a stimulant medicine
your blood pressure can go up your heart
rate can go up you can feel nervous
agitated because it’s stimulating your
body so you don’t want to do that
long-term the other problem with weight
loss medicines is you take it you lose
five pounds a month or so for three
months and you get the
good burst of weight-loss and then when
you stopped the medicine the pounds tend
to come back on so I try to encourage my
patients use adipex as kind of a
motivator get the things you want to get
in line straightened out while you’re on
the medicine like what and what are some
of the tips I give people stop sugary
drinks if you’re like a coke drinker
like once a day go ahead and cut that
look up like sugar content and coke it’s
crazy read a book about nutrition like a
Michael Pollan book watch somebody’s
documentary he’s like fed up I’ll link
those below that talk about the sugar
addiction we have in America get an app
like the lose it app which helps you
monitor calorie and take an energy
expenditure quit shopping for stuff
that’s in boxes that’s processed beyond
recognition get stuff that’s like oh
that food is this I know how they make
that it comes off the tree like that’s
good stuff the only other thing I want
to talk about with phentermine is you
might remember from the 1990s this
medicine called fin fin which half of
the the medicine was phentermine or
adipex the other half was fin fear amine
which was the other fin part well it
came out that it was causing heart
problems and deaths in some cases so it
got removed from the market so they did
look at that medicine more in-depth and
found it was the fin flora main
component of fin fin that was causing
the troubles so as far as we’re
concerned and we have some more years of
data to look at now thin termine our
adipex seems to not cause those issues
with the 12-week period that’s
recommended by the manufacturer question
of the day I want to know what are some
things that you’ve done to try to lose
weight what’s worked for you what hasn’t
