5 TIPS to get you into Ketosis – FAST!

recipes tips and tricks grocery hauls
and what I eat in a day videos so that
no matter if you’re just getting into
keto and this is the first that you’re
learning about it or you’ve been
interested in it for a while hopefully
there’ll be something for everybody so

pretty much everything that I eat as
well as asking you guys what you want to
see in these videos so a couple of days
ago I asked you what you would prefer
out of an intro to keto or a 5 tips to
get into ketosis fast and you guys chose
the 5 tips so if you’re just getting in
to keto you might be wondering so… what even is ketosis?
essentially our bodies need fuel to run
and just like a house can get energy
from solar energy or gas our bodies can
get energy from two places we can either
be carb burners or fat burners and most
of the time our natural diet is that
we’re carb burners so that’s the reason
why when you have a meal if you’re
having a moderate to high carb intake
you get a blood sugar spike because that
sugar is rushing through our system and
that’s what your body is going to take
and use for fuel now the other way that
we can operate is that we can use fat
for fuel which is where your body takes
either the fact that you’re eating or
the fact that you’re wearing the fat on
your body and it turns it into ketones
which it can then burn for energy now
why you would want your body to be in
ketosis is a whole nother topic with a
lot under it so if you do want to hear
about that and if you’re interested in
learning about why ketosis is good for
your body give this video a like and it
might be my next topic so how do you get
into ketosis well essentially it takes
your body between two and seven days
and in that time period you need to be
giving your body enough fats for it to
switch over to burning fats while
keeping your carbohydrate intake very
look and this tells your body well we
don’t have carbs anymore to burn as fuel
but we do have this whole bunch of fat
in our body that we can use and your
body will switch over into a state of
ketosis and when you’re in a state of
ketosis you are a fat burner as opposed
to a carb burner so how do we get there
well sometimes it can feel like a bit of
a slog especially if you’ve been on a
bit of a carb binge and you’ve got some
Oreos and some ice cream in your body
and you’ve got a lot of excess glycogen
running around and you liver and in your
muscles and you need to burn through
that excess glycogen before you can get
to the fat so here are five tips that I
personally use myself if I’ve got out of
ketosis to get back in and that will hopefully help you along the way as well
starting with tip number five make
sure that you’re focusing on fats a lot
of people in the beginning when they’re
switching over on to keto make the
mistake of dropping their carbohydrates
but not increasing their fat levels and
if this isn’t normal for you if you’ve
been eating a higher carb low fat diet
like a lot of us have been fat has been
made out to be the devil then maybe
increase it at first with some natural
fats if you can increase your amounts of
olives avocados olive oil coconut oil
these are some really light gentle fats
that I personally feel don’t feel too
heavy in my diet so if I’m feeling a
little bit sensitive to big fatty heavy
meals I find that if I increase my
natural fat and eat plenty of nuts and
olives and avocados and things like that
it makes the transition a lot easier for
me but you’re gonna feel so much better
if you have enough fat to run on
otherwise you’re just gonna feel starved
tip number four is to cook at home I
know that it’s so easy to order
uber eats or go to a restaurant but
restaurants often put extra sugar or
flour as thickeners in their meals that
you won’t notice and they won’t be on
the menu but will keep you out of
ketosis and in this first 48 hour period
it’s so important to know exact
what you’re eating so that you can track
your carbohydrates so bite the bullet
just keep it simple
cook at home for the first couple of
days you can go back out to ordering your
ubereats soon tip number three is to do
some intermittent fasting now I do a
version of intermittent fasting just
because I’ve never really been a
breakfast person honestly and a lot of
people on keto I find that they’re not
really hungry in the mornings so a lot
of people that I know do intermittent
fasting but if this is new to you or if it
seems a little bit hard to skip
breakfast give it a go just for a couple
of days maybe it until twelve one
o’clock two o’clock
what intermittent fasting does is it
gives your body a break to burn through
the glycogen that you’ve got stored in
your liver and stored in your muscles
before you add anything to the pile and
the form of breakfast so if you’re
trying to get through an excess load of
carbs that you’ve got in your body the
best way to do that is to let your body
work through it without adding more food
to the pile now some people I know even
do one meal a day and they’ll only have
dinner I personally couldn’t do that
because food is bae but if you can
last until one o’clock or two o’clock
I know it’ll help tip number two while you’re doing intermittent fasting why
don’t you go and do some fasted cardio
now some people might think that this
sounds like absolute hell and I know
that a couple of years ago the idea of
exercising on an empty stomach seemed
really foreign to me and I was always
told you know have a banana before you
go work out but for me now because I do
intermittent fasting during the morning
I’m so used to being up and active that
it feels really normal and one of the
amazing things about fasted cardio is
that not only are you giving your body a
chance to work through the stored
glycogen and your muscles in your liver
but you’re demanding more of your body
so it’ll burn through it faster and you
might feel a little bit tired in the
first day or two because your body’s
trying to switch over to burning fat
instead of burning carbs but as long as
you have your fat and take high enough I
promise you’ll get through it and you’ll
be fine tip number one my most important
tip for getting into ketosis fast for
some of you you might
laughs this off because it’ll be so
second nature to you but especially when
you’re getting first into keto it’s
so important to remember to keep your
carbohydrates under 20 to 25 grams per
day now depending on how strict you are
you can choose to do this net grams or
total grams net grams are your
carbohydrates minus your fiber so personally
I count net grams because I have a ton
of vegetables and produce in my diet so
it’s important for me to count the fiber
in those otherwise my carbs would be
really high and honestly nobody got fat
from eating some spinach but especially
in this first 48 hours it’s really
important if you track what you’re
eating because unless your carbohydrates
are low enough your body isn’t gonna
switch over to burning fat make sure
that you download one of the free apps
like My Fitness Pal and just log
everything that you’re eating don’t
worry about calories we don’t care about
those all we care about is your carbs so
if you’re keeping them under 20 to 25
grams per day this is gonna mean that
your body has the best chance possible
to switch over into being a fat burner
and you’re gonna feel amazing
