044 – Is Eating Chocolate Good For You

Hey, it’s Rocky Black from DailyKetoChef.com.
I have a confession to make. I… Love…
Chocolate. I always loved chocolate and I
will probably never stop – not even on a keto
diet. Does it mean I cheat with chocolate?
That chocolate kicks me out of ketosis every
time I savor it? That I feel guilty about
my chocolate affairs? No, no and NO.  Yes,
you CAN eat chocolate on a keto diet. You
just have to be picky about which ones. And
boy, there are some delicious ones! Side note…
As a chocolate lover, I don’t even believe
in “just take a one little square”. Sorry,
that advice is not for me. Why should I take
only one bite of something that is so yummy…
and as you’ll see in a minute… so good for
me AND healthy? The first step is to get accustomed
to darker chocolate. Overall, my sweet tooth
started to diminish the more I incorporated
fat into my diet, so that made the transition
from “milk chocolate” much easier. I got
to the point where chocolate bars that are
85% cacao taste much better to me than milk
chocolate now. It may take some time but it’s
so worth it. Here are my tips: 1. Always choose
dark chocolate with a high cocoa content – The
darker the chocolate, the better. Why? Because
the higher the percentage, the less net carbs
it will contain, and the more benefits you’ll
get from the cocoa. Choose at least 70% or
if you can, go for 85% or above. 2. Always
read the label – The carb content will vary
from brand to brand, so always check the label
when buying. Most 85%-99% chocolates usually
contain around 2 g of carbs per 10 g square.
Not bad. Also make sure there’s no soy,
artificial sweeteners or sugar added in the
chocolate. 3. Avoid milk chocolate (or white
chocolate). These are extremely NOT keto-friendly
because they always contain insane amounts
of carbs. So avoid them at all costs. So yeah…
these are my guidelines for all keto chocolate
lovers out there who are NOT ready to say
goodbye to chocolate 🙂 Hope this helps! If
