Welcome to my new video, I’m Harees Ameerali.
Not in Thailand or Malaysia, as I’m back home.
Currently at home in Mala (മാള), Thrissur.
My mom and wife have joined me today.
It’s been a while since my Mom appeared infront of you all with a video.
Thank you for the support you gave us for our previous videos
In one of our previous video we did say that we will show you how to make prawns vada.
So today’s special is prawns vada.
So Mom, why don’t you tell us about prawns vada.
Many people have been asking fro mom, but she was in Qatar with my younger brother.
Mom: So it’s one of the easiest dish to make.
Harees: How fast?
Mom: If it’s a fresh and cleaned prawns you can make it within 10 minutes.
So if it’s a cleaned one you can do it within 10 minutes.
So lets get it cleaned
So how are we gonna do it now?
Ginger, Onions, Chillies, Curry Leaves.
Why are we using normal chillies and Birds eye chilly?
Mom: It’s to spike the spice up
So let’s start, first we add the ginger and grind it.
Try not to grind it to the max, try to grind it to a medium level
My sweet wife is grinding the ginger now
And she said she don’t wanna say any dialogues
So for now mom will be the one doing the dialogues
Now we have to grind each and every item, and this is a traditional style
You may notice a plaster on my mom’s arm, as it’s something you may ask.
It’s based on the small angiogram test that we conducted.
Once grind ed add your needed salt
You’ll get a sweet and aromatic scent as it’s just being grinded
Once the veggies have been grinded you will slowly add in the prawns.
I’ll help you, Nisha(Wife) hold the camera I will grind it.
You may say that I’m making my mom and wife work so I’ll do some work as well
And now I’m starting this
So we made this to a paste form and we need to add some chilly powder.
Hats off to the ladies, as they had to use these traditional grinding tools
and my face burns as some pieces splashed onto my face.
SO now we are adding prawns part by part
it’s not an easy jobb
Doing it for the end product.
So our prawns is now in a paste form and now we will start our cooking
So we will add the oil onto our frying pan
And add some neem leaves
Add some oil within your palm and then
Take the paste into your palm and shape it
Or mold it into any desired shape.
And then fry it
Repeat the same process for each sections
So all done?
How will you know if it’s done?
It should turn golden color
it has a great scent
I can only share the taste and scent of this only through words
So you are free to give this a try
You can also try this with fatty fishes
You can do this with all sort of meats
So our prawns vada is ready by now
It’s not golden color and it’s cracking a bit
In-order to prevent this from breaking apart add abit of corn flour.
It’s tasty as usual
Prawns,Ginger, onions, chillies
You can assume how it will taste like
And I’m going to take this bite for all my malayalee audiences
I’m sure that you are imagining how this taste like and smell like.
You are gonna say that it tastes really good, right?
There are no artificial flavoring added.
As you will like it all and you can do it within a limited time span
You can also eat it with sauces/ketchup
It’s spicy as we added two types of chillies.
Everyone says that we should give it to our moms
So as you are giving this to our live and passed away moms
Lets remember our lost moms.

She said she’ll prepare it but she moved aside due to the shyness to the camera.

Now we will try it with corn flour to prevent the vada from crumbling
It’s really hot due to the umbrella lighting
So we will show it with added corn flour
So we are not adding corn flour
We are repeating the same process and you can do it anyway you want
You don’t have to make it into any certain shape as you are eating it for yourself
So as long as you don’t care for the presentation do it as you vish
As we added corn flour this didn’t stick to the pan nor break apart
You’ll get it done within few minutes under med flame
